I suppose it's better for his debut that he'll have had a week to train with the team before Millwall, rather than 24 hours against his former club.
 
The hold up is due to Villa wanting to add a buy-back clause in the contract - similar to those they put on Archer and Ramseys.

I'd be surprised if they want the buy back clause, he's older and not as highly thought of as Ramsey and Archer

Me too. They went to the PL for 8 figure transfer fees. Azaz is someone they are off loading for peanuts in comparison.

Personally I think the FA should clamp down on this type of edging their bets deals by prem clubs.

I don't think buy back clauses should be allowed, what if player X has 1 year left on his contract at Villa and wants to move on for his career? But villa won't sell unless the buying club has a buy back clause. He might only be able to leave and further his career if he agrees to come back if he does well. That's restriction of trade, and locking him in to contracts that he simply might not desire.

I'd ban this type of deal, I'd also put 20% limits on bonuses payments for after sale on players sold to a club in an equal or lower tier. sick of these prem clubs ruining players careers, and farming them all over, often against their will, and profiteering on the back of that.
 
Surely a disagreement about a buy back clause is a fundamental part of the deal, if rumors are true that he was allowed to train yesterday, I just cant see this being the case.

More likely to be 'heavy admin' - one way to ensure he doesn't play tomorrow.

Jokes aside I'd almost expect nothing less. I mean if we'd sold Hackney to Villa today I'd not want him playing against us tomorrow. Just an example.

I also think it would be weird for the player in terms of head space etc.

I would have been really surprised had he played tomorrow. Apart from anything else he's not even trained with us yet. So nothing sinister in terms of the hold up. Just what I'd expect.
