First thing you do as a new manager...

I think it is. Gibson’s choice, Carrick’s choice.. whoever decided, you’ve got to ask why.

No, it was just an attack on Gibson for something he couldn't possibly know.

Carrick obviously respects him as a coach or he wouldn't of agreed to have him as part of his team.

I won't hold it against Carrick. He's come in with a fresh outlook so in one aspect it's refreshing we've tried something different and shows his brave enough to make his own decisions and hasn't had others in his ear behind closed doors.

But the problem is he's going to make mistakes figuring out what a lot of us already know and we don't want to fall further into the mire.

I’d be very surprised if he did - i would be frankly amazed if he’d said please Steve can you ask Jonathon Woodgate if he’d be my first team coach.
Really hope this thought is way wide of the mark, but I really hope we aren't 'looking' for an assistant for another month but then woodgates been such a help to carrick (positive spin story) so is given the role.

And it was planned all along but to do it in a way which wouldn't cause as much resistance.

So you don't know, but let's attack Gibson anyway as if your opinion is fact?
No of course i don’t know, but what would your money be on - Gibson appointment or Carricks’. You don’t need to be a genius to work out why Woodgate has reappeared do you

I find it absolutely incredible, and bemusing, that Woodgate is our first team coach.

He was SACKED for incompetence recently here, we’ve seen first hand how much he is lacking, then went to Bournemouth and failed to get a multi-million pound Premier League squad promoted from the Championship.

…‘but the lads love him’. Yeh I bet they do, ******* about in the changing room, pals with everyone, doesn’t ******* anyone, all nicey nicey for the spineless players.
o_Oo_O

Woodgate was an excellent centre back, if he cannot get our defence sorted out for defending set pieces within the next few weeks at something which he already knows then what hope is there with him for the rest of the team.

The proof will Be in the pudding but we should expect those mistakes being made today to stop sharpish in my mind
The problem with that theory is Woodgate did it naturally and didn't have to think about it, maybe that means he can't pass on to others his thought process to others, many great naturally gifted players have made very poor managers/coaches, its usually the hard working go under the radar players that excel in management

You launched a tirade against Gibson based on something you don't know. New managers generally want to bring in their own people, it's just as likely as your scenario.

For all you know Gibson didn't want Woodgate but was Carrick's take it or leave it.

Gibson does deserves criticism for decisions he has made in the past and if he has forced any person on our new manager then fair enough, but until we find out your attack is unwarranted.

Did he manage to do it while he was manager in the time he was in charge? We looked wide open at the back then! Not sure why having a new role will change that.

Woodgate is not the answer to any of our problems - i don’t think any other club would think he was the answer to their problems either, so why is he back here ? Answers on a postcard …….

Yeah stick to your principles, get beat by playing square pegs in round holes?

Giles and Smith playing full back is hardly square pegs in round holes. Why the need to hyperbol to prove a point?

Bola and Djiksteel may have been better today, they may not as both are equally capable of producing a rubbish performance. We lost because we can't do the basics when defending a set piece.

Well if I was manager I certainly wouldn't have Giles left back and McGree left side of midfield!!!! Would you ????
Oh, and while I'm at it the our best target man is out on loan at Bristol Rovers 😡
