Five criminally overrated bands (in your opinion) and five criminally underrated bands (also in your opinion)...

Underrated:

Squeeze
10CC
The Damned
XTC
Queen (underrated in the very early years, by the music press, who despised them)


Overrated:

Big Country
Depeche Mode
The Clash (Don't get me wrong, I liked them, but they weren't all that)
Fleetwood Mac
Meatloaf (Great voice for 1 album, but utterly preposterous, offensively crass lyrics throughout)

Trying not to just put up a list of 5 band I like and 5 I don't so here goes.
Choosing my favourite genres (rock & prog) otherwise boy bands, rap and $hltty R&B would fill the over rated .....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Over:
Led Zeppelin : so highly rated above just about everyone they must be so over rated ........... btw I love them
Radiohead: wtf is that all about ?????
Guns and Roses - living off that first album for 30+ years.
Motley Crue - one of the most successful "hair bands" and hence by definition criminally over rated
Kiss - absolute fcuking @r$e gravy of a band........ only in America o_O

Under:
UFO - obviously ;)
Porcupine Tree - love em and Steven Wilson solo stuff
Wishbone Ash - how these weren't huge ?
Spock's Beard - gotta love Neal Morse
Squeeze - I love these. Seen them live six times (more than any other band) and they are brilliant. Lyrics and music are just quality. Love em.
