Flu almost completely eradicated

Appa in the second week of January there were zero cases in English hospitals compared to the usual thousands. Mind you wouldn’t go if you could avoid it like!

Almost no instances of Flu reported according to the Times. At least nothing worse has come along to replace it

Positive news tempered by the second half of the report which suggests it may return with a vengeance next winter as nobody is building immunity to it.

I assume lightweight that was due to covid. I am 55 and got mine for the first time. Also there are probably less vulnerable people about, social distancing and virus interference.

Still some good news

More people were vaccinated against flu this year. On top of that most people are not meeting others outside their families or using public transport and we are all washing our hands/wearing masks/using hand sanitize. It will be back next year when people are behaving more normally.

Seems entirely logical. We're all wearing masks, largely locked indoors, and washing hands more. Flu is bound to struggle against that!!

It will feed tbe deniers that flu is bring misdiagnosed as covid19 as per Yeadons claims.

when something like covid, which is far more transmissible, is having cases reduced due to social distancing, masks etc, then it will have a massive effect of less transmissible things such as flu.

Unfortunately, that's the first thing I thought of when reading this. Ammo for the FB scientists.
