Gatwick had plain closed officers stood after the final departure gate check point where the scan boarding passes etc. Pulling and questioning those on our flight to Egypt.

luckily we’re all classed as key workers and on a works charter.

What "proof" did you need to supply?

Bit sneaky doing this at that point in the journey as well, presumably you're classed as eligible to board post-check and therefore probably not entitled to a refund...

You mean undercover officers?
 
No, undercover would presume they are mingling in pretending to be passengers etc. They were policing the borders in normal work suits like detectives.
I don’t think detectives police the border whether wearing suits or not....or were they wearing their suits in the manner of a police detective?
(oh the ambiguity of the English language without appropriate grammar)
