Tish, the documentary film about Tish Murtha, has just been on BBC 4 and will be on iPlayer. The majority of her work was done in the Elswick area of Newcastle but I hadn't realised (or seen any of her photographs of the town) that she'd lived and worked in Middlesborough too.
The film is excellent.

The daughter Ella was a guest on Bob Fischer's radio show not long before covid. I was a co-guest on the show.
Ella has been publishing her mother's work In books. Tish is now also recognised by a permanent collection at Tate Britain.
Fischer and me were fascinated by the story but really saddened that a brilliant photographer was liviing in poverty a few streets away In Gresham.

Her daughter has done a fantastic job of ensuring that her mam's work is known.
