Wow how far has this sport fallen, the result is not even on the BBC Sport front page (unless I’m just missing it).

I can see who won the Irish Derby and something to do with motorbikes but nothing on F1🤭

I was a fairly casual fan, watching when I could but not going out of my way to make sure I saw it.
Since that farce of a title deciding race, I’ve not seen a single one. I check the result each weekend and that’s about it.
As I say though, I was a very casual ‘fan’, although maybe I was the kind of person they needed to attract and get more hooked.

I blame that absolute spanner of a race director that decided he was gonna gift a title to Verstappen. Ruined the integrity of the sport for me. I've checked out largely since then
I have done exactly the same. The only person who ever posts on F1 is Jedi and I haven't seen him for a while.

Just did a little research and he hasn't been on this board since the 14th June. I hope he's ok.

I was just thinking I’ve not seen him for a while. He’s a fairly prolific poster. I hope he’s ok. Maybe he’s been banned, although I don’t think he was the type to get banned?

Same thing every race Verstappen wins by 20-30seconds with a car that clearly has an advantage on the field primarily gained by breaking the cost cap rules last season.

What i will say the field behind is somewhat a lot closer and the changes implemented this season does allow cars to follow each other a lot more so more overtakes but the end result is always the same.

I know we have dominant drivers/cars in the past (Schumacher Hamilton etc.) but at least their team mates where able to put up a bit of a fight and make it more entertaining, Perez on the other hand can’t compete against Verstappen, the team doesnt Help the situation either with them favouring Max as their No. 1 driver

Its just weird, as people have said F1 has always had periods of dominance by one team but it was still covered. I mean on the BBC sport headlines page just now, I can see a stage winner of the TDF, the winner of the golf at The Belfry, Nick Kyrgios almost dreaded a return to tennis, the guy that won 400m hurdles, who won medals at the boxing European championships, a derby winning jockey is forced to retire, who’s won stage 3 of the women’s Giro de Italia and a story about Karen Brady but nothing about who won this weekends Grand Prix

I have no interest in F1 anymore but I know Verstappen won today because it was a main headline item on the BBC website when I had a look earlier so it was there. There are 3 cricket things now so it's been overtaken as top news item I guess.

There is no mention of it now and what are 5 hours since it finished, there are cricket stories, horse racing stories, boxing stories, women’s football stories, u21 story and a story about some jockey retiring. So not only is it not a top news item, it’s not even an item (news or otherwise)

More penalties applied 5 hours after the race finished. Aston Martin appealed that the Stewards had not done their job properly in logging track limit violations. Massive exercise took place to review all infringements and reconcile penalties. The FIA is not fit for purpose.

I’d only just gotten into it the season which ended in all that controversy, and I’ve already began to dip out of it. Just find most races completely boring now.

Speaking of F1, not seen @Jedi boro on here for a couple weeks, unusual for him to be so quiet?

I have been a fan of F1 for many years. I still watch, but this is not a great era. I am only guessing, but I presume that this current period of domination by an unlikeable driver in an unlikable team is putting people off. It is not the first time that we have seen such a period of domination.

Behind Verstappen who is driving around pretty much unchallenged and not even having to drive at his limit, the races and on-track battles have actually been OK.

I have no issue with Red Bull and Verstappen dominating (it's not like it doesn't happen all the time), but I've hardly watched it after the ridiculous final race in Abu Dhabi. Regardless of any allegience, Lewis Hamilton was totally robbed out of winning the title that season. How Red Bull and the smarmy Horner celebrated at the end was shocking too.
