Four new nuclear reactors coming to Teesside - possibly

Elon Musk was talking about solar energy last week. He said that a solar array of 100 miles by 100 miles would power the whole of North America, if combined with batteries. At least I think that's what he said, there's some confusion whether he meant 100 sq miles or 10,000 sq miles.

If that technology is available wouldn't it be likely that the UK would be able to buy solar energy from Spain or Italy or Greece? Oh maybe not Greece.

But isn't solar likely to be cheaper and less of a security threat than nuclear?

Musk is a con-man.

This is brilliant news. Talks with various companies have been going on for a while now, with representatives from Japan and the US having visited the Hartlepool site recently.

It really will be fantastic to secure more nuclear in our area. Those who don't work in the industry are understandably cautious of nuclear, but with todays regulations it is a safe and secure way of producing electricity.

It retains our nuclear skill set and will safeguard jobs for those at Hartlepool worried about the longevity of the current site past generation and defuel.
Absolutely. Will be fantastic for the area if it happens and will contribute to reducing reliance on hydrocarbons.

The question no one has asked yet is 'Will we get our tropical fish' as promised when Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station opened due to the waters getting warmer?

And?

They apply UK regs. Regs that the government is determined to dismantle as they are a cost on business.
Think about what you are suggesting then calm yourself down mate.

No one is going to be building a nuclear reactor in England and operate it without regulation. It's a plainly ridiculous suggestion

If you actually believe that then clearly you haven't been paying attention. The mantra is to deregulate and maximise profits, no matter the cost to others. I suspect you have a vested interest though.

Iirc the golf course next to the Hartlepool site is the ground for the new site, it was bought for that purpose originally.

Nuclear is definitely the right way to go. Everyone wets the bed because of Chernobyl and Fukushima but one was a freak accident and one was down to top down corruption and penny pinching on a ridiculous scale.

Fusion is a loooonnnnnng way off if it's ever actually viable.
