Front 3?

I gave up with Britt a long time ago, but this season he's been nothing short of a disgrace. Always thought Akpom had something about him but he's under performing. Fletcher imo is too lightweight and has no touch.

With Bolasie out injured, I'd be really interested to see how the below would perform as a front 3.

Mendez-Laing through the middle.

Johnson and Kebano either side.

He looks like he had the build for the role and would surely be more physical than Assombalonga and Akpom. It’s worth a shot I guess when he’s fit to start. He impressed me on Saturday to say he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger in months and he’s always been a player i liked previous to his ban. Interesting to see if Warnock would use him in that role though, suppose he did it with Bolasie but if you looked at the 2 you would say NML is more suited.

Same mate, he lost it once or twice but looked good. Seemed pretty confident/direct.

Always liked the look of him whenver I saw him for cardiff. I think he'd cause a lot more problems up front than any of our other options.

Tbf - bolasie caused more problems up top in his first game against norwich than the rest would have!

I can't see NML being drafted in as a striker tbh

I could see Spence & Johnson returning..

-------------Betinelli-----------
Dijksteel--Hall--McNair--Bola
-------Howson--Saville--------
Spence----Kebano---Johnson
------------Watmore-----------

I think we've lost the plot a bit recently with all the new lads coming in.. a bit too eager to bring em in and get them involved. I would guess we'd see a change in shape..

Subs wise..

Spence/Mendez
Watmore/Akpom
Johnson/Fletcher

Plus Fisher & Morsy to put the breaks on

He has the physicality to play centre forward , he is strong and won't get bullied .
Give him a go there , nothing to lose , but don't expect him to chase about , when not in possession, the player behind / along side him needs to be the one doing that .
Kebano would be my choice , put the central defenders under pressure with a high press , and pick up on the mistakes . Coulson or Johnson could even do that role , chasing down the centre halves with a bit of aggression , they way Lingard is doing it for WHU now .v Sheff U.
He is not fit yet , so I think a 30 minute run out is the most we can expect.

So the wide men we have been crying out for you would play through the middle. Ok

Mendez Laing isn't fit . So he hasn't the pace or fitness to be a threat out wide .
Warnock said he was at Rockcliffe today stiff as a board after half an hours run out .
So yes , he isn't ready to play wide , but because of his physicality , may be more suited central at the moment .
Kebano and Bolasie can also play through the middle and wide , that's why they score goals .
I hope this answers your question , I don't think he will even start tomorrow , due to lack of fitness . But , if he does get on , he could go centre forward , and be a focal point , even for another 30 minute run out .
We need 11 fully fit players on the pitch to compete in this league.
And Newy
I think your team could start , no time to get people fit , start with the fittest , hungriest .
All top teams have energy , a front 4 who when they have the ball , use the ball , play in a way that creates chances .
In Kebano , Watmore , Tav we have that , when fit Bolasie and ML have that .
We need Spence , Johnson and even Coulson to step up to the plate , and Akpom to man up and put a shift in , instead of being a bit part nothing player .
Britt and Fletcher need to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they want to be successful , because at the moment they are leaving us in June , and will struggle to get a club . Who wants a player who doesn't put the effort in ?
And meant to add , the keeper needs dropping because he is not doing what he is paid to do , and is letting Warnock down . Problem is , no faith in the back ups ?

For me the front three idea is the problem.

We have no central striker suited to it and the support striker/winger/wide forwards we have are out of form, or injured/unfit.

To compound this, the only two midfielders we have with any energy and drive are now either out injured or playing centre half.

The three in midfield haven't really looked effective for a couple of months, but we've been in games and creating chances that we should have taken.

We are a second tier professional club who have spent somewhere over £80 million on players in the last four seasons?

We currently have no fully fit and trusted centre halves, one left back, three inconsistent wingbacks, one of whom never plays and one of whom never produces anything but frustration. Three pretty similar centre midfielders who rarely deliver a good performance (especially all three together) who can't really be dropped or rotated as we have nobody to switch out. No really competent first choice goalkeeper, or another competent keeper to challenge him.

Our first eleven when fit, on form and if one of the forwards has an 'on' day and takes a chance or two is decent and capable of going on a run of games.

When nobody is taking their chances, the keeper is letting shots through him, Tav, Fry & Fletcher aren't available, the midfield trio are leggy and ineffective and the new creative players are unfit or unable to start back to back games and hurt the opposition, then we are workman like and really struggle.

I really think we need to change to a formation to try and get the most out of what players we have available and fit, but God knows what that is currently.

I feel Betenelli, Britt, Hall, Akpom, Saville, Watmore, Spence, Coulson and Johnson are barely worth a start currently added to the injured and unfit, that doesn't leave us much choice.

I feel a bit lost and hopeless as to where we go from here, Neil has his work cut out.

That said, typical fan, if we have a good win next game and results go our way I'll be looking at play off hotels.......

In Warnock we trust (except Lizards of course ;) ).

Good post that. If i'm being picky though - the only thing I don't agree with is grouping Johnson in with that lot - I actually think he's been unlucky to be out of the team recently, because in my opinion he was having a good season. Sometimes he looks like the only one capable of creating something and he's returned some decent stats compared to the rest.

He'd be in my first choice front 3 at the moment - although i'd probably put Susan Boyle in there at the minute.

He did well in the early part of the season I agree. He’s looked poor since Christmas. His lumping in is for me, he’s a more a wingback than a winger or a wide forward. If we’re planning on building a side to push to go up through the play offs, we need better. He’s been a good pro and provides adaptable cover, and as you say has looked good and seems to have been somewhat push aside recently.
