After years away i'm thinking of getting back in the game.

I used to love RTS games, red alert, age of empires, starcraft etc.

Also champ/football manager of course (addiction)

Am i best with a PC or have consoles got any better at the RTS stuff?

There are some on consoles but better on pc, I’ve just got back into pc gaming after a 10 year tenure with a Mac, and had PS4 and have ps5 and the pc thrashes them. You can play Xbox games in
On pc now with gamepass as well so imo it’s really down to if there are any Sony exclusives you want and if you get exclusive use of the lounge tv...

Lounge is more comfortable and console is cheaper, but pc is better but just my opinion of course!

Save your time, these things are so bloody addictive you end up tired, moody and goggle eyed. I had the misfortune to read about champ manager 01/02 on here I had to delete it in the end after three months of constantly playing it from morning to night. I generally have good self control but where these things are concerned I lose it!

When it comes to hardware and gaming experience, PCs are still way ahead of consoles imho, although next gen consoles look pretty good now. But PC gives you far more flexibility with options, updates, game patches, mods, and just sheer choice of what's available in regards to RTS games, and all games for that matter.

If it's mainly RTS games you're wanting to play, then the PC is only the smart choice.

Controllers are nowhere near as convenient as a keyboard and mouse for them, and there are more games available on PC.

If you are just playing single player then PC is probably the way to go but if you want to go online I would opt for consoles as PC’s are so easy and widely modified by players to give them an unfair advantage. You don’t get this with consoles.

I’m playing civ 6 on PS4 at the moment it’s clunky and would be a lot better on pc. I just wouldn’t want to fork out the money for a too notch pc whether that’s ready made or built

You absolutely do get people cheating on consoles btw, and many games do cross play now anyway so it doesn’t make a huge difference.

It’s an absolute cottage industry and people pay good money for the latest cheat code / devices. They get banned quickly but people still do it

Then there are people on consoles that use mouse and keyboard adapters to give an unfair advantage over everyone using a controller

Why is unfair to use keyboard and mouse on a console? It’s part of the kit you can use with it
