Giles off to Hull

Surprised with this as he went to Luton to play Premier league football and will be on around £30k/week wages. luton will have parachute payments next season and a new stadium.

I agree with Hull and money - they paid £5m for the lad from Villa, have a Turkish international and the recent senior Liverpool guy on loan. Their crowds are below the average in the Championship and I can't think of any big sales in the last 12 months.

Hull have made some really good signings this season. I really wanted us to go in for Philogene in pre season and he looked great for them, prior to his injury. Carvalho looks good, and Giles is obviously more than proven at this level. Rosenior is a good gaffer too, they'll be a big challenger for those last few play off spots.

Good signing for Hull. Strange for Giles. How many clubs has the lad had in the last 5 years now?

It’s not a good look for him that it hasn’t worked out at Luton.

Wolves never played him, now Luton wants rid.

Rob Edwards and his backroom staff sussed him out after only a few starts, their biggest transfer outlay, warming the bench week in week out, that said it all.

Some on here were saying "they bought him for next season" no they didn't, they bought him for this season, but realised he couldn't defend, they don't even want to keep him if they go down to Championship.

He looked good going forward against poor teams in the Championship last year, but against better teams, when he needed to defend and pick runners up, he was very poor.

He is not worth 4-5m.

Spot on Joey. They are showing some ambition and have some proven quality. Already decent at the back and now have some matchwinners.

Wonder whether he regrets his decision last summer. Probably not given the salary he'll be on but awful decision from a footballing perspective. Everyone could see it at the time. Made no sense at all
He had 2 options. Sign for Luton or sign for us. Signing for Luton the worst case scenario was it doesn't go well and he ends up back in the championship but there was at least an opportunity to have a go at the PL. Signing for us it would have been a best case scenario that we get promoted and he then has a chance of playing PL football. Being loaned to Hull, with an obligation ot buy means he is in the same situation he would have been if he had signed for us, and still has the chance to get promoted this season.

It hasn't worked out as well as he would have liked but it doesn't mean it was the wrong choice.
