Give me a *REALISTIC* player you could see signing...

2 new boys in earlier in the week, but you would hope that isnt the end.

Who would you like to see come in now that the squad has been further added too, but realistically who might it be?

A couple of weeks ago I was still convinced Ramsey would be back on loan but appears that ship has sailed.

I think we are short in CM and Up top still, so that would be the areas I would prioritise.

Realistic options (I'm sure you all will tell me if they arent!)

ST - Troy Parrott from Spurs on loan perhaps? (although linked with a host of other clubs)

CM - Linked with Brownhill yesterday, who would be ideal, but I'm not convinced that is realistic, so maybe Kobbie Mainoo from Utd. Looks like he will be injured until the international break, but from pre-season looked a good fit in the CDM role.

Torn on Stewart, he has shown flashes of decent performances and goals. However I'm not convinced he could put a run of 8 games together, and then we are no better off.

Realistically, the PL pays so much more for youth players and back-ups that we can't really sign anyone from the PL anymore unless it's a young player on loan or you are getting parachute payments. I don't know who they are but I didn't know who Archer was until he signed for us. Who were the other young players that might be looking for a 2nd championship season? The championship pays more than a lot of other countries top leagues so that is where we should be looking. Hopefully that is what we are getting with Latte and Engels. Are there any young strikers doing well outside of the top teams in Scotland, League 1, Portugal, France, Holland etc.

If you want proven championship quality then you are paying £10m+. I no longer play Football Manager or FIFA so I don't know who the realistic options are. This is where the recruitment team have to earn their dough.

I didnt state it to be fair, but I meant both on loan, I agree buying out right would be too expensive for us.

Mowatt was a big step down from Howson. He did ok as cover but we someone better really if we want any hope of promotion. Could do with someone that is a proper DM.

And someone who doesn’t move like they are stuck in a tar pit.

Ryan Ledson. I think he’s a cracking player. Cameron Brannagan at Oxford Utd too.

And of course, big Jonson Clarke-Harris to fire us up.

9 ST Ross Stewart - Sunderland - Championship experience, out of contract in 2024, wants to leave and potentially available for a very low fee
REALISTIC - I think the risk might be too great on this one, a loan from a prem club Jay Stansfield Fulham's under 21 rising star

12 RB Reggie Cannon - Boavista - interesting opportunity a free agent after a breach in contract from his former club.
REALISTIC - If Tommy Smith and Anfrenee DIjksteel are both fit.. is there any need? Conor Bradley on loan from Liverpool maybe

24 CB Bashir Humphreys - Chelsea - very technical defender who can operate in a number of positions, I don't think we can afford this position with the system we play.
Maybe if Paddy McNair leaves, RVDB has first dibs on game time, Matt Clarke maybe on his way back and Jack Hannah looks promising.

28 MF Kees de Boer - VVV-Venlo - another free agent, suitable replacement for Martin Payero imo
REALISTIC - I think this central midfield spot is vitally important Josh Brownhill would be more likely imo

31 AM Chris Willock - QPR - a fans favourite, very much an internet driven link methinks, a year left.. so maybe there's a deal to be done
REALISTIC - Morgan Rogers is Chuba Akpom's replacement and Alex Gilbert is his back up. Facundo Pellistri or Shola Shoretire at a push on loan from Man Utd

Conclusion: a top end championship quality midfielder is the most realistic signing for us right now and a striker coming in on loan.. similar calibre to Cameron Archer, Thomas Cannon.. at least we know for sure something is happening in those area.

I don't think Josh Brownhill is the answer for Wolves, Palace or Everton. Leicester look well covered in that area. Leeds have just lost Tyler Adams to Bournemouth for £20m so they must be in pole position to offer up a decent fee.

Lewis O’Brien coming in on loan is a player I could see us signing. If this does happen I think somebody should give Nobby Barnes a big gold badge or a hat or something as I do think he championed Lewis O'Brien specifically more so than all others.

The Striker we're bringing in? Pfft, sick as a parrott tbh with all this realistic shenanigans and Nobby getting the main prize of the window.. how about another loan from Nottingham Forest Hwang Ui-jo
