Glasgow Rangers

There are 6 games left, you can criticise but Liverpool won the title with 7 games left last season.

Even considering the general uncompetitive nature of Scottish footballers, it's still a big achievement from them given the starting position of the two clubs.
You hear he'll be a good manager because he was a class player, etc, etc & they ending failing, Gerrard has come in & no only stopped the 9 year monopoly of Celtic but smashed the league to stop their dominance, where will he go next, Liverpool?

My thoughts exactly - they would love yto have him back, whether he can be a success in a more competitive league is another thing!

Going great in Europe as well, something Celtic haven’t done in a long time.

Can’t imagine him going anywhere else. See how Liverpool get on next season.

I think Klopp is in for the German national team job, Gerrard a certainty for Liverpool if that happens.

A bit like Lampard to Chelsea I can’t see it working out so well. He should give himself at least five years in management before even considering it if he wants to keep his Liverpool legacy intact.

I agree. He's done great so far at a club where the pressure is always on - but running Liverpool is a massive step up again. They wouldn't even consider hiring any other manager whose only achievements were in Scotland.

Best to achieve on your own terms and come as an equal.

The stat that blows my mind is every player in the team was Scottish and every one born within a 30 miles radius of Celtic Park, no club will ever be able to boast that again
Derby games between them and Rangers don't seem to have the edge that they did in those days because the "Local Lad" factor is missing now and I think the same can be said of "Derbies" in general, they seem to have lost the oomph ! factor.
In most cases it's not what the player can give the shirt nowadays, it's what the shirt can give the player.

He's done a brilliant job and there's a great article in the Athletic that covers it really well. Gerrard is much the figure head and leaves most of the coaching to a team. He does oversee it but allows the coaches to run with it. What he has done is completely change the mentality of the club. The article alludes to him being great with the players, but also ready to hold them to account if he thinks standards are dropping.

By all accounts; he's very happy there so don't expect to see Gerrard back at Liverpool anytime soon. Not now there's Champions League to play for next season.

The last time a Liverpool hero who turned Scottish football on it's head with Rangers then returned to Liverpool didn't end well....

That said, what Gerrard has achieved up there in a couple of seasons is incredible.

Going to be an interesting next couple of years for him, no doubt about that.

Stein's European cup triumph in 1967 gets more remarkable the more you read about it. It's an interesting thought that Matt Busby was knighted after Man U did it a year later, and Stein wasn't.

Apparently because his side was involved in a violent brawl just before he was set to receive the knighthood.
