Goal scorers shushing fans

No problem with it.

It's a mild sort of celebration really; if it's on the rise, I suspect it's because abuse of players has increased.
If you can't take it, don't give it out in the first place.
 
Some footballers get dog's abuse - fair play when they respond.

Cantona had the right idea
 
I think it’s great and shows players are passionate. Always chuckle if an opposition player does it to us.

I seem to remember Cantona sticking the Vs up at the Holgate when he scored for Leeds back when we hammered them 4-1.
 
Not a growing trend at all, it's been going on for years and years, and will continue to do so, it's called banter between fans and players...

Remember when Barmy returned to play against us, the chant from our crowd, "Stand up if you've sha**ed his wife" and about 15 thousand fans stood up!!! if he had scored against us that day, think he would of done the hush sign and who could of blamed him!!!
 
I'm all for it tbh, if fans want to hurl all manner of abuse at players all game long, then they can get a bit back.

Always funny to me when you see those fans that look SO angry at games during an opposition players celebration, like a renaissance painting when you look in the background at some of those pictures and see all the faces of fans looking absolutely unhinged, apoplectic with rage. Makes me think of that Adebayor celebration and the sheer amount of angry faces and people just going mad in the Arsenal fans.

Will always fondly remember Mido shushing Newcastle fans that had been giving him a bunch of vile sh*t.

Don't get this really, how is it not spontaneous when it's usually in response to fans giving players sh*t in the very match they're in the middle of playing?
 
I don’t know if I’m alone in this, but I find celebrations in general a mental concept.

I scored a goal. I’m going to do a little dance.

A hand in the air or a ‘get in’ I understand. But doing the daft little dances and handshakes just makes me want to welly the television.

Unless it’s boro then me shirts off.
