I will never forget my first visit to Ayersome Park in the 60's, I loved the place but God was it dump when we left.

I am sure I won't be the first or the last to say, that was the best ever Boro team I've watched and made better because I was only 13.

There were two blokes sitting in front of me who used to have a nip of whisky from a hip flask every time Jim Platt touched the ball. I remember once they didn’t have a drink at all in the first half. What a defence that was.

We knock the Geordies, mostly with light hearted banter, unless of course they are punching horses. But you have to admit that they produce the Boro a good stock of Managers from time to time, hopefully including Michael Carrick.
