Gus Hamer - Burnley & Fulham both register their interest

Going to give them plenty of money to play with, need to get the rest of our signings in before they start throwing money around.

I don't know that they will to be honest. Maybe a bit, but nothing like what will be required to replace the players they've lost.

I could be wrong, but it's not often you see a championship club make a big sale and reinvest most of it back into the team.

Look at us with the Tav and Spence money.

It's why I always find it a bit odd some fans are so keen to sell players for X amount. The fee is rarely reinvested straight away (which is understandable given most clubs are running at a loss).

I dont think it will give them huge balls to swing in the transfer market.

It might put them on a even keel with some of the 'bigger' budgets in the division.

I know their debts were written off (around 60 mill!) last year during the takeover, so I'd fancy getting some of my money back 😂

Replacing Gyokeres & Hamer is very very difficult and for that reason, I don't think Coventry will be challenging next season - although Mark Robins is an excellent manager and it wouldn't surprise me if he has them punching above their weight again.

Anyone would struggle to replace them no matter who it is. I just hope we have a plan should Akpom leave.

From what I've seen of simms he is a different forward to VG & can't see how he will fit the fast break style that cov employed last season . Take Hamer out as well & that's the absolute heart ripped out of their side . Think they may struggle .

Gyokeres & Hamer for £40m..
Could go a long way

Chair £10m
Simms £8m
Giles £7.5m
Jashari £7m
Willock £6m
Bird £1.5m

don’t they have a massive debt to do with their stadium tho?

£40 million (if they got that) wouldnt be paid up front, and I very much doubt all transfer funds would be given straight back to spend.

They had some big debts, but I think they got cleared last year when Doug King (?) took over?

But neither would the fees for the players they brought in. Gyökeres and Hamer are canny players but you can see how much of a boost it could give Coventry to have that much buying power!

It’s smash the league money!

I dont think it is, as I dont think they would use all money on transfers only.

So I dont think they would get a 40 million budget, maybe half that, and the rest pumped into the club.

20 million would be very handy, but not 'smash the league'

£3.5m Ellis Simms - Everton
£2.25m Tatsuhiro Sakamoto - KV Oostende

Looks like they’re doing alright off it anyway..

Currently in talks with Striker Dylan Vente from Roda JC

Just as an aside, how does a club actually 'register an interest' then get that interest out into the press world. I assume registering an interest is not an actual bid? They must ring up the finance guy at the club and say , put us down on the interested parties register would you old chap. Do you want to bid right now. No No No, No need for that right now, just get us on the registered list for now . Well do you want to go on our special registered list. Oh What's that. Well its the same sort of thing but we don't tell anyone your'e on it . Oh ok , let me have a word with my chairman and come back to you. cheers

I think its just a different way of saying 'linked with' 😂

But in this case, both clubs have contacted me directly to inform me of a genuine interest in the player(y)

Yer joking! What about the increase in wage bill that lot would cost?
it would be unfeasibly high.. it would be a huge task for them to replace Gyok and Hamer.. but could they improve their squad?

long story short.. we should sort chuba out with a new deal

I don't think the wages of Gyokeres and Hamer are going to cover all those players....

Sorry @SmogonOuseburn didn't see your post
