Gyokores?

Talk of £4.65m - £7.4m still seems heavy for Gyokores. One decent Championship season for him to be sold to another championship side.

£3m would be sensible (not that they have to sell) £4m they would be getting a great deal, £5m would be amazing. £6m we talking lower end prem and £7m is silly money.

Hugill £3m
Nugent £4m
Bamford £5.5m
Gestede £6m
Fletcher £7m
Bamford £7m
Hugill £9m

£8m to £12m is cuckoo land
£10m to £15m would be crazy for a prem team
£20m to £25m is just nowhere near the realms of reality for me.
Crackers.

He is a current Swedish international, good age, prices are high at the present time. I would be shocked if we got if him for less than £7m plus add ons. However Coventry only paid around £1m last summer for him.

No chance of this lad coming, his stock is too high so will be out of our price range. We should be looking for next seasons Gyorkeres for 1m somewhere, get to work KS!

As ever his price will be set by whatever Coventry are prepared to sell him for and what other clubs are prepared to pay.

If, for example, we're the only club willing to offer as much as £8m then Coventry need to decide if they can afford to turn it down.

It's essentially the same gamble we'd be making. One good season (in terms of goals anyway). Is it a blip or a sign of things to come. Do they risk his value falling and hang onto him in the hope he's worth more and in more demand next year or cash out now?

Obviously if other clubs are interested and willing to pay more then than changes it again.

The rest of the discussion around a players "value" is just noise really. If he does get sold worse players will have been bought for more and and better players signed for less and will be this window.

Do Swedish internationals generally command a high fee?

Football isn't immune to inflation.

Everything is more expensive now, so transfer fees from even 5 years ago aren't directly comparable to fees in 2022, in my eyes.

The minimum wage was £7.83 in 2018, it's £9.50 in 2022.

I was say in general yes they command a decent fee a bit like Denmark & Norway - we paid 10m Euros for Braithwaite or £4m? for Beck in 1996 (£24m? today) £1.3m for Fjortoft in 1995 (£8m today)

Above £7m I would say no on this one, but I have only seen him in one game when we lost at Coventry. Hne reminded me of big agile forwards that cause problems but don't get hatfuls of goals. More agile than Ikpeazu but not going to be a regular 1 in 3 goals scorer. Definitely a step up on what we have, but don't put all your eggs in one basket player.

Thought Braithwaite was about £9m?

Beck was free, there was protracted legal wrangling about it.

I did put a question mark against Beck as could not fully remember.

10 million Euros is close to £9m.

With hindsight Braithwaite was not worth £9m, more like £5m and less cut out for the Championship.

Assuming the Spence deals goes through I would bid £6m for Gyokores (partly based on what some are saying in here) with some generous add ons. Walk away if they say no chance.

Any team looking at promotion is more likely to get charged more than a player is worth then add few quid on top if they’ve just received £15-20m for a player .
Wel need to take some risk who ever we get but atleast it’s minimised with spence money
