I'm not overly concerned. He's been at the club long enough for staff to know if he's worth a new deal.
Just let his football do the talking and it will sort itself out. I wouldn't be throwing a 4 year deal at him based on a good month. I imagine neither will the powers that be.
Smith / Akpom / Watmore /Fisher / Daniels and Howson are also on that list.
No panic on any of them. I would like to see Watmore get a new deal. He's had a more than impressive 2 years. I also doubt he's on much.
Akpom is a funny one. He's playing well and 'reborn' yet probably a high earner. Again he's had a good month. So no need to panic and throw him a 4 year deal. We can also pick up an extra year with him. That's probably the better option.

They might be wary of offering too long a contract after the situation with Ste Walker.
Offered a 4 and half year deal in 2019 after starting to feature and then never kicked on.
Now he's just hanging about, not playing for the U21s or the first team.
Hackney's had a better start in his first appearances though, so it's probably less of a risk.
Not that either will have been on fortunes.

Seems strange him just hanging around and not going out on loan.. might he be injured?

Not really sure what's going on with him, tbh.
Not seen him on a youth team sheet for a long time.
