I think Hackney is one of the most talented midfielders in the division.

But I think he has been one of our major issues so far this season.

When he first came into the team - he rarely got forward - did the simple things - tackled well and kept things ticking over.

He has started to get forward a lot more - understandable because he wants to be more influential, but the formation we play needs those midfielders to focus on their defensive duties.

I think we need to tell Howson and Hackney (or o'brien) to sit.

Trust the other players more.

I’d like to see Hackney as the 10 and O’Brien and Howson as the two behind him.

He was phenomenal yesterday. He bossed that second half comeback but too many others were out of sorts. I think Howson having been unfit for so much of the summer is meaning his passing is very off and on.

He was awful in the first half, but so was everyone else. Great in the second half. I think it is more the position he is playing rather than hie ability/form.

Howson was at fault for both goals in my eyes.

- For the first he is marking nobody when their 10 drops into space

- for the second he doesn't trust Bangura and runs across leaving the gap on the edge of the box (our achiles heal)

If you are playing 4231 the 2 can't get forward as much as they currently are trying to. They need to sit in and use their passing - trust the 4 upfront and full backs to create.
 
We are so soft through the centre of the park it’s not funny. I wouldn’t be against sticking Djiksteel in a defensive midfield role when he’s fit. The defense need all the help they can get right now. Dijksteel, Obrien and Hackney infront of them would be interesting. We’ve nothing to lose (except for another 3 points).
 
Sky covering our game tuesday should be D day for carrick as they will go to town on him especially if we lose & get closer to that magic 10 games & no win.

I’d drop Howson and have Hackney & O’Brian sitting. Howson is looking every bit his age so far this season.
 
Take a look at Blackburns breakaways in the second half when they should have scored 3 or 4 more goals. Nearly all came from poor Hackney passes or being caught in possession.
On top of this he didn’t get back nowhere near fast enough after losing possession.
But hey he was phenomenal apparently according to our esteemed site owner.
