Been exploring this area in the Corsa recently.

Hartlepool Headland is like the land that time forgot....there is literally nobody there. Great for a good walk and sea air, I went into the Pot House pub and sat outside with a plastic glass and had a pint of Wingman by Brewdog and porkie scratchings...Saw Andy Capp ๐Ÿ‘
There are more benches than people disgrace tbh, they also have a paddling pool but it was all dryed out like a Serengeti water hole ๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธ Tryed to find Mr Chris cake factory, I got some gatows from there back in the day.
Didn't they have a racehorse named after it ??

Anywhere else the property would be worth a fortune and it would be gentrified with snooty bars and restaurants selling chowder but it's cheap as chips, maybe cos it's difficult to get to ?

Went to Crimdon Dene and beach, very nice I identified a Stonechat and saw some deer and lots of dogmess ๐Ÿ‘

Also been to Seaham that seems to have had a lot of investment, the harbour area is nice and been in the Spoons ๐Ÿ‘ I found some seaglass and made a picture out if it with copydex...

Also been to Seaburn and Roker, more investment..Roker Park is nice and they have a Stack thingy and a few new establishments at Seaburn. I went in the Seaburn Inn which is brand new and had a breakfast. And saw the old tram stop that sells coffee and looks quite poshe...they found human remains on the beach recently but don't let that put yoos off...perhaps it was Newy ?

A.load of new bars seem to have popped up at Seaton Carew .....hic
Think I saw Nosmo working in The Almighty Cod (assistant manager) ?? Had a small portion of land and sea ๐Ÿฆˆ๐ŸŸ
The public toilets near the bus stop still smell tho....Offitt
PS Seaside Sammy's has changed name ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Any other recommendations guys ????

Hartlepool headland is a great shout. It's our go to place for a walk on the sea front this time of year and the fish sands beach, just below the Pot House, with the grandkids in the summer, it's sheltered and south facing.

Had a chat to one of the locals a couple of weeks back and he told us that some of Vera was filmed there. One of the fellas running the job loved it so much that he bought a house there.

There's a good chippy, Verrell's, it's not open very long though so you have to hit it right.

Thanks Corky, there was a family on that little beach and they had it to themselves. Verrills was indeed shut...
Have you been to Blackhall Rocks ? Castle Eden Dean ? Worth a visit ??

I was over on the headland for the first time in decades. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. As mentioned above, if it were somewhere else property prices would be through the roof. A real hidden gem!

Wot I did in my skool holidayz.
Excellent writing Nobby (if I may say so!).

I love it on the Headland. But I have never seen so much dog ***** per square yard, quite incredible. Almost a tourist attraction in itself.

Was over the headland a couple of weeks ago with the dog. Low tide and not a lot of sand until we got past the Heugh Battery going towards Steetly pier.
The paddling pool is cleaned out in the summer and filled regularly.
Lovely walk along the promenade.

I've been through Blackhall Rocks many times but never to the beach, nor Castle Eden Dene.

Another two for the list, thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Crimdon Dene is nice, if you park on the right just after you turn off the coast road you can walk down the Dene to the beach. There is a nice cafe at the main carpark further down that road. It's all free parking as well ๐Ÿ‘

The paddling pool at the headland gets filled during the summer and there are loads there on a warm day. During the winter it has no use really. The winter storms and high tides fill it with sand and seaweed. A digger was there last week clearing it all away. The Heugh battery is a good place to visit with a decent cafe. Its a world war museum. The benches are bought by people as a remembrance to a lost relative and have inscription plates on them. It can be a nice place to sit and reflect or enjoy the view in relative peace. There is no need for nice places to be overcrowded all the time.

Good post thanks for the info, will definitely try the Heugh battery ๐Ÿ”‹

My Mam and her Family were born on the headland before they moved to Middlesbrough as my Granddad got a job as Steward of the Clarence Club. My Nanaโ€™s brother Billy died in the German Hartlepool bombardment. He was 15 years old!

Noticed the big war memorial on the front.
Steeped in history and definitely worth a visit for those haven't been ๐Ÿ‘
