Have we got enough to get in the playoffs?

Probably not, don't see where we just suddenly find the consistency that's been absent all season, nor do I think there's enough quality there.

I think, IF (!) we have no more serious injuries we will get in the playoffs. Just had a daft bet. We are 9/4 so the bookies fancy us! (y)

Our defence isn’t an issue for me it’s the guys in front of them. We get overloaded on the left a lot, our new left fullback is not the best defensively, so unless whoever is playing ahead of him for us suddenly decides to start helping his fullback and bother to track back we will continue to concede a lot of chances per game down that side. Add to the fact our midfield doesn’t really have anyone defensive it in either and don’t make enough tackles the defence gets exposed a lot when we lose the ball. Jones missing won’t help either as he helps his fullback no end.

This has been asked several times over the course of the season.

I don't think we will make it,

we've been too inconsistent, our last 5 games LWLWD, we've been average most of the season.

Leicester Southampton Ipswich Leeds, are as good as there, leaving ten clubs chasing the two remaining spots.

The problem with only having 2 centre forward options latte and Coburn is they have been overplayed and played when not fully fit injuries are inevitable. Its not unlucky they both are injured its incredibly poor for sight and planning and a direct consequence of our lack of options. If we had signed a decent striker in the window coburn could have the rest and a hernie op if he needs it and would come back in 6-8 weeks refreshed.

They aren't good/consistent enough to get us the required goals for top 6 and don't have any competition for their places
I didn't think we were strong enough before we sold MR We need to build in the Summer for a proper tilt at it next season. Thats what it's all about now.

McGree is seen as this superstar, is he really that good? I mean he's better than Greenwood but I'm not sure his return will bring this sparkling run of form that will catapult us up the table.

Leicester, Southampton, Leeds and Ipswich look certain to finish in the top 6 which would leave 2 spots up for grabs.

So fighting over the last 2 spots you have WBA who are doing well now and have brought a few good players in. Hull have signed some very good players including that lad from Burnley who could make the difference and then you have Coventry, Watford, Norwich and us who all are chasing too. It's going to be very difficult to get there this year, even when players return.

Glover/Dieng

Ayling/RVDB
Clarke/Fry
Engel/McNair

Jones/Gilbert
Howson/Barlaser
Hackney/O’Brien
Thomas/McGree

Forss/Silvera
Crooks/Coburn/Latte Lath
Azaz/Greenwood

I think we can set up in a more dynamic way with the changes we’ve made.. when fit/available the ‘2nd string’ is 1st string quality. Lots of quality options.

The reason Thomas isn't getting a game at Leicester and wasn't getting a game at Sheffield Utd is because he can't adapt to changes like this.

He's a very good full back. Can't play wing back or anywhere else.

We are nowhere near the play offs not consistent enough, home record is poor and lack of ST, a summer rebuild again but hopefully with a proven goal scorer and next season we will be up there

We could absolutely get in the play offs - from 5th down to about 15th there is very little between the teams. And we are just outside after having a insane amount of injuries for 3 months.

However, the gap from 5th to 4th is considerably bigger, ability wise. So if we do get in there, it would appear that it would be like the season we got in with Pulis. There in name only!

Our biggest concern, as mentioned several times on this thread, is that, in the main when we get a player back from injury another immediately gets crocked.
The league cup run, however exciting it was probably hasn’t helped us injury wise and the Asian cup, again, has been a pain in the posterior. MC must have been secretly tearing his hair out at times this season. I think we should just accept this season for what it is and look forward to next with fresh optimism. #UTB

Looking at the current table id be surprised if the current top 4 don't occupy those positions at end of season.

I do think 5 and 6 currently (west brom cov) will fall away but I'm not convinced we'll be the team to replace. Think Hull will sneak in and maybe Watford.

We could sneak into them. Unlikely but we could. No chance of winning them though.

I'm more concerned about next season now. I assume we're looking to buy in the summer but who of our squad will be here next year .
Ayling, McNair, Greenwood, O'Brien, Thomas and Howson all out of contract.
I'd be flabbergasted if we hang on to Hackney. McGree and Jones with just a year left on theirs so they may be sold as well.
Big rebuild and a hit and hope that the new players gel quickly and are good enough.

The problem now is we're going to be missing Rogers creativity, his goals, his assists, his drive, his ability to play as an emergency striker, who replaces that?
Rogers - 8 Goal Contributions in 26 appearances or 0.55/90 mins (For Boro in Championship this season)

Azaz - 12 Goal Contributions in 26 appearances or 0.61/90 mins (For Plymouth in Championship this season)

I'm hopeful that Azaz can contribute just as much as Rogers if not more.

Using Rogers as an emergency striker wasn't exactly a positive. He was pretty poor there. His best performances came from the left or the no10 role. Forss will hopefully play the striker role better than Rogers now he's available.

Genuinely if that's the case then Aston Villa are absolute mugs. How can Azaz contibute more when his own team value him at a 1/6th of Rogers.

They maybe see more potential in Rogers. A higher ceiling in the future. Azaz is a bit older. Not as tall and athletic as Rogers.

But those stats are correct so right now, Azaz has been contributing more goals and assists than Rogers in the Championship. That is a fact.

Fair enough and I hope I'm proved wrong. I just can't get my head round how Villa could possibly value them so differently if Azaz can contribute more.
