Hayden Hackney banned for 6 games

If a 19 year old office worker had spat at someone during work they wouldn’t just be allowed to use the ‘he’s just a kid’ excuse.

Shocking really.

i agree diego its a shidt thing to do not defending him, personally would prefer to be spat at than punched;)
Your not defending him but you are going out of your way to make out it’s not that bad and comparing it to other things. Just call it out for what It is, a scummy act that needs punishing.

Would likely be facing dismissal too, no excuse at all for that and not what we want associated with the club

let him without sin cast the first stone!!!! i aready said it was plain wrong, but no major crime
I have cast several stones thanks, and readily with self awareness. The lad is a stupid idiot and anyone defending his actions is a huge tool. Are you defending him? It is a major crime for me, especially in an airborne pandemic.

not a major crime numpty,,a stupid thing to do ,thats for sure, look around the world and see whats happening son,and see how serious its not!!!!!ffs get a life

maybe i grew up in a tough environment,as ive said its not a good thing to do ,but not the end of the world,

Very silly of course, unprofessional and not something you want associated with your club.

I won't provide false equivalence. He's a young lad and you hope that he'll learn from such mistakes.

People clearly have strong feelings about what he's done. I agree that some of the comments above are over the top and that's fair enough but he's received the punishment from the officials.

Whilst football is a job, it's not fair comparing an office job to a competitive sport and physical game when it comes to conduct despite the fact that spitting is disgusting

It's disgusting and the ban reflects that. I simply can't think what was said or done for him to do it.

You can't really use an excuse of a 'rush of blood' etc. Spitting on someone is never the first thing that pops into your head in a moment of madness (it's usually to physically assault or a verbal outburst).

It's a strange one. I'm sure he's got no history of being a kn*b head.

Wow….. spitting at someone is a minor thing in a pandemic is it? I take it you don’t work in public health? You need to educate yourself, by the sounds of it you wasted the opportunity first time round. Deliberately spitting at someone is assault in the eyes of the law.

I don't like it but he's a nice lad and he's only a kid. I wonder what the provocation was to cause it. Won't get mentioned but probably something worse.
He sounds a gent - Whatever the provocation, there is no excuse for spitting at anyone. It is the lowest of the low for me.

We've all made mistakes and let's hope this young man learns from it. Unfortunately though, this stigma will go with hm throughout life.

I did grow up in a tough environment but we never spat at each other.

I didn't realise spitting at someone was part of a competitive and physical sport?

Imagine having a game of football at Goals and a lad on the other team spits at you...
