Hour long interview with Isaiah Jones just published

7 deaths in his family in one year. That's incredibly tough to deal with on top of a new born as well as the pressures of football. Shows that at times fans really need to just STFU and let players come through their struggles and dips in form. We really don't know what is going on with players in their private lives

Hope he kicks on.

I think many of us knew there were some things happening behind closed doors as he went from being a first teamer, to not even on the bench and Carrick never ever said a bad word about him.

Although his pace is electric and clearly worries defenders, I just wonder if his final delivery/decision making will 'click' because if it does, then he'll be PL bound in no time.

You can teach crossing, ability, decision making, skills etc....you can't teach pure pace and he has plenty of speed!

Would be brilliant if he improves and adds yet another string to our bow!

Small wonder he struggled, and some posters on here were putting the knives in at every opportunity.

Hopefully he can get back to his best this season.
Unfortunately there are a number of fans who appear to be more obsessed with being proven right than anything else.

Once they'd declared he'd "hit his ceiling" or "been found out" or whatever, that was it, they were always going to look for evidence to reinforce that view. Of course not being in the squad gave them the "evidence" they needed to keep slagging him off. 😕

At least he couldn't ask for a better manager in the circumstances. Hopefully in a better place this season and will be making a few eat their words.

When he first broke through one of the things I was impressed with was his decision making and how he would put the ball into dangerous areas so he definitely has it it in his locker.

Hopefully next season can be like a fresh start for him.

Had to deal with multiple deaths in the family, depression and a new born child all in one season.
Thanks for posting. It was sad to see so many posters write him off so quickly, because of his path into professional football he's the sort of lad you want to see succeed.
Personally I was unaware of his struggles other than vague references but the way he was greeted onto the pitch by the players when he came on at halftime against Hull spoke volumes that he'd been through a tough time.

That was painful 😂 I needed subtitles for half of it while I skimmed through.

Ended on a positive - But horrific year for the lad!

but I must admit some of the things he says on there worried me a little bit.

Asking his agent whether he should go train or have a birthday party.
He couldnt be ar5ed to go and talk to the new manager, we can talk when I'm ready

Hopefully he has grew up, and switches on for the new season.

Your comments demonstrate how little you understand about mental health issues.

Not really.

The examples I referenced were before the horror year the lad has gone through.

I understand he has been in a bad place in the last 12 months, and I am glad to hear he is through the other side and is getting help.

However, that doesnt mean that this thread is only focused on that, as it touches on his full career.

I am allowed to bring up other parts of the interview that struck me.

So me saying it shocked me that he couldn tbe ar5ed to go and meet his new boss isnt a dig at his mental health issues, its me highlighting that in any job that would shock me and demonstrates a poor attitude - which he has hopefully grew out of.

Came across really well, and brave to give a bit of insight into why his season on the pitch was the way it was. Any right minded Boro fan was rooting for him to get back to the Izzy we saw the season before everytime he was on the pitch. Hope this upcoming one is a big season for the lad. Coming out of some very difficult personal stuff into a team that is potentially flying and a style of play that should suit him down to the ground. When he's on his game, those dribbles he goes on into the gap between the fullback and centre half with the low drilled cross to the edge of the six yard box. You've got to imagine Chuba will be absolutely lapping those up

This explains many things. It's not something a club can come out and talkabout. So every just writes 'he's sh*t'. I imagine many footballers go through similar things.

This is clearly an extreme case with the multiple deaths and new born baby. That's a lot for anyone.

Hopefully he's now in a better place. I thought we saw flashes in the final few games of the old Jones. Having a player with that much pace has to be an asset. Taking players on and getting in behind.

Interesting comments about him and Spence. How the club were looking to see who they could get the most money for. I mean that's hardly what you'd want to here after a superb season.

I think people also forget what a rise he's had. Just like Lewis Wing. It's got to be a lot to take on. The spotlight and fame. Then to try and replicate it when he's no longer an unknown.

Oh.... Number 11 on new Merch🧐

It shows that you obviously don't understand how mental health issues can affect a person - nothing to do with "professionalism"

I find your original post pretty disgusting, tbh.

Seems harsh - but thats your opinion, and your entitled to it.

I think I've made a couple of comments on specific stories 2 or 3 years ago, that I think demonstrated a poor attitude - in the past.

Not sure why you are attempting to make my post into something more than it is.
