House clearance?

Due my mam passing away a few months ago, we are in the process of emptying her house. I can sell furniture and some of the nicer items, which will help pay for her headstone. Some of the ornaments, pictures, clocks etc Will got to Teesside hospice and cancer research shops. It’s the stuff that charity shops don’t want I’d like to donate to something or someone. Stuff like kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery, scissors, containers, mixing bowls etc. Is there a shelter or home I can give them to? My mam always told me never to waste things.

I’m fed up of people on marketplace who don’t read the add, ask stupid questions about what was clearly explained, and insult you with lowball offers, and then have no means of paying or collecting. If they do buy cheap, they only go and relist it at a higher price. I’m not letting my mams stuff go to these people. I would rather give it to worthy charities who will ensure it goes to the most needy.

Sammysmith, sorry for your loss.

some of these charity shops are picky about what can be taken in and the house clearance places are not fussed about some items.

You could list the items on gumtree saying free to a good home, to go these clothing recycling places as other non clothing items and a percentage goes to a charity or have a street sale saying free to a good home and have tin next to it saying “donations to Teesside hospice”.

it is a heartbreaking thing to do though.

Sorry for your loss Sammy. I have seen the odd person starting up again after a break up on the Freecycle sites. If you have a 3 piece make sure it's fire retardant material and labelled as shops will not take them.

Thanks Norfolk. The big stuff will go. Clothes have all gone. It’s just drawers stuff. Pots, pans, glasses, rolling pin, mixing bowls and general sideboard drawer stuff. Playing cards, old cameras, writing sets, Christmas cards and paper. You know, that kind of stuff. There’s nothing wrong with it but I don’t want to throw it all in the bin

Sorry for your loss Sammysmiths and the very best of luck to you in finding a grateful recipient for the odds and ends.

The Blind centre in Boro near the Macmillan academy is a charity organisation that hold little jumble sales to raise funds for looking after visually impaired from across Teesside . I’m sure they would listen to what youve got to offer . They even have drivers Who normally transport the members to and from the centre , that would likely pick the articles up . Best of luck and well done for persevering for a good cause 👍
