I’m sure the appointment of a new manager is top of Steve Gibson’s agenda both for Middlesbrough Football Club and his own reputation as the “best Chairman in the country” and “King of Teesside“. We have tried the dinosaurs and others that have yoyoed between success and failure elsewhere on the managerial merry-go-round and yet stubbornly remained in post with no regard for the success of our beloved Boro purely to pick up the huge severance packages negotiated into their contracts. Steve Gibson’s penchant for Manchester United was demonstrated to great effect with the appointment of novices Bryan Robson and Steve McClaren, and the untried and unknown Aitor Karanka originally turned out to be a winner. I believe the potential appointment of untried Michael Carrick demonstrates commitment, long term perspective, and ambition from Gibbo. Carrick was a level headed player in all the clubs he played for and would certainly be respected by both players and fans. He would come with a plan, fresh ideas, a contact book, and stability, and I think that the amount of time it is taking for both sides to put pen to paper is an indication of the long term commitment envisaged by all parties. The consequences of failure are unthinkable.
