How many more points do we need?

Wigan getting docked 12 points but still having Barnsley, Hull and Charlton to play is good for us.

If Wigan win every match and get 12 point deducted they can finish on 53 max, so 54 is mathematically safe.

But thats a tall order and if they draw one match they can only finish on a max of 51.

Impressed me yesterday, especially Fletch. He's come on leaps and bounds since his first season here. And yet in a pretty poor team.

He is really good I think. There is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to offer him a new deal with the other players on big wages leaving etc and out of contract. I think he enjoys it here and the fact he has got another manager who is playing him I don’t see no reason why he wouldn’t stay. I hope it works out that way, could see him adding another 7 or 8 goals to his tally next year as we, you would think, be a better team.

He could easily aim for 18 goals next season, 12 this year already.

You'd think he'll be on a wage that isn't too prohibitive, and he would fancy stopping since he finally seems to have found his feet in a more refined role.

I mentioned on another thread that he's probably too old as a long term appointment but his uplifting presence is just what we need after recent years. If he does stay on for another season (or 2) I would hope that he is allowed to bring in HIS players
Which manager hasn't been able to bring in HIS players?

Totallg agree (y). Seen him say in an interview earlier in the season he is enjoying living in Yarm with his girlfriend too so he is more than likely settled. I guess the club are waiting to see if we stop up before they offer him a new deal but think that should be one of the first things we do once our championship status for next season is certain.

What is a 'long-term' appointment though? We would really risk another 4-5 year contract on someone when everyone we've had in recent years has been a disaster we've had to pay off?

We've had six permanent managers in just over 3 years. Give Colin a two year deal (to try and get us up) with an option for a third year. I think that would suit both parties fine as long as he's happy to live up here midweek etc.

I’d imagine Mrs Warnock will have a big say in things

Karanka for one

I think some players were his choices but it is clear as day Downing and Rhodes were bought for him and not by him. Then again though, I get the Downing signing he was still playing well in the premier league it was a really coup of a signing at the time. The Rhodes one though want I don’t like, if Karanka wanted someone else as his preferred striker then that is what should of happened.
