How To Report Racism at Football

I just picked up this advice from Football Supporters Association on reporting racism at football games. There is a bit of background around the current drive against racism and raising awareness through October at the bottom of the email.

How do I report discriminatory abuse?

We’d encourage anyone who hears anything at the match to use Kick It Out’s Report It tool and they will investigate every incident. You can also download the Report It app for iOS and Android. The Premier League has a good explainer here on how to report social media abuse.

English football stands united in its determination to tackle racism and remove all forms of discrimination from our game. Throughout October and beyond, the FA, Premier League, EFL and Kick it Out will reinforce the message that hate and discrimination will not be tolerated at any level of football and action will be taken against perpetrators.

Alongside the PGMOL, Professional Footballers’ Association, League Managers Association and the Football Supporters’ Association, the football organisations are urging fans and participants to report discrimination wherever they see it or hear it, to help make football a safer place for everyone.

I reported monkey noises to a steward at a Peterborough United away game at Pride Park about a decade ago.

The Stewards couldn’t have been less interested.

I hope things have changed.

All great reporting ways but when in any stadium up and down the country it is hugely difficult to use an app or website to report anything as network coverage is poor in stadiums. If you want to then report it to someone in person, you are in a difficult situation as you are walking up to someone in a high viz jacket and bringing attention to yourself....perpetrators then are made aware that you have just reported them. Need to get network coverage better in stadiums if any of this online reporting is to work

There is a text number and that needs to be pushed far more. I don't know what others find but normally there is enough bandwidth for me to send a text. It is a really good point and needs to be emphasised. A simple text.
I have changed from EE to O2 this season - previously I would post on twitter X and instagram before kick off at Boro and grounds all over the country I can no longer do this anywhere. Maybe am getting away from the point here. But anyway the text number needs to be displayed.

Is the number and what to do or anything like that on the tickets or on your season ticket?
No it is not. In the old dsys of season ticket books it would have been easier to do this but ideally a way shouod be found for a number to be constantly visible.

I reported someone for this a long time ago at the riverside by contacting a Steward at the match. I'm pleased to say that the club took it very seriously, monitoring the person over several games and taking action

I can't even text when in the stadium. I have brought it up with the club and all I get from them is "yeah we know coverage is not good"....not what we want to hear...we want to know what they are going to do to make the situation better
