Can't imagine he'll play as often as he did last season, but my goodness, his personality, character and leadership off the field is worth it's weight in gold
The man is a Titan. Shouldn't be written off as too old as that bar gets lifted these days by committed professionals (like Valverde in cycling, Dettori in racing). He has made premier league players seem ordinary within the last year.
He hardly ever gets injured or suspended. Played over 40 times last season and won the player of the year. A proper 'model Pro' who can play in a few positions if needed.
We've thrown some awful and frankly bizzare contracts at players over the years. This one was fully deserved.
It really wouldn't suprise me if we are having the same conversation next summer about giving him another year.
