I don't worry too much about that; everyone knows 3rd isn't good enough for promotion at the start of the season, so no point whining about when it suits us.

I can see the playoffs being scrapped in future, but only if the PL push for a return to 2 up, 2 down

Can't see there being much chance of that happening.

The play-offs are the only thing that keeps the league interesting and competitive for the majority of clubs.

Not to mention they're lucrative for the EFL.

It'd only go to 2 down if the Premier League bowed to UEFA pressure to reduce the size of the league to 18 like the French have.
