If we had all players available would you start Clarke?

Lenihan will either be first choice, or sold in the summer. After paddy leaves he is our highest paid player (I think), doesn't make financial sense to play RVB and clarke and keep lenihan as a ressie.

Fry and Rav are the two least comfortable on the ball. Don't think they are a good choice if we want to play from the back.
rav least comfortable on the ball? you actually been watching the games or based that off the odd bad pass you see on highlights? because rav is by far the most comfortable on the ball out of the lot of them, even under pressure.

Clarke is the most aggressive and a steady stopper, but is anything but the best on the ball.
It’s all opinions at the end of the day.

Absolutely disagree. He is comfortably the best on the ball in my opinion. Takes an extra touch and is in control. Where as Fry I don’t feel comfortable.

Clarke and VDB is the best best pairing - as you say it’s all about opinions.

I would concur

I think 2 from Mcnair , Fry and lenahan will leave , possibly all 3 .
Rav and Clarke then become 1st choice , I expect 2 more to come in like Jake Cooper free , Michal Helik , Nathan Wood free , or my reccomendation Ladislav Krejci , LCH who can also play DM .

I like Clarke but would start VDB and Lenihan. Clarke is not comfortable enough on the ball to be considered in the top 2, but is a 'proper' defender and looks useful in the opposition's box too - he gives us more threat from corners.

CB is our strongest position amongst the current crop, I think all 5 are good players with their own strengths and weaknesses. Rav is my favourite - just superb.

Clarke is an out and out defender, never rated him when we first signed him but he has proven to be a good defender.
When your backs against the wall and the opposition are lobbing the ball in the box, trying to get shots on target, he seems to come from nowhere to get his head on it or throw himself to get blocks in.

VDB has to start every game when fit…Paddy has improved massively at CB over the last 2 seasons..

I’ve got to respectfully disagree, he is like a rabbit in the headlights at times.

Clarke is statistically the one who gives possession away the most and has the worst passing success.

Rav is our second best passer, after Lenihan
Not Sure where you are getting your statistics from. In the Southampton game Clarke had the second highest successful pass completion percentage in the team with 95.7% complete from 47 passes. Only beaten by LL with 100% from 15 passes. Against Sheff Wed he had the 3rd highest pass completion percentage from 73 passes with 91.8%. Only beaten by Howson and O'Brien.
