I'm A Celeb - Matt Hancock

Haha yes, fair enough re his physique.

You watch him in there and wonder how anyone thought he was capable of running the health of the nation.
Same for the rest of them mind.

It's his "mistresses" husband I feel sorry for. Bad enough being cuckolded by Matt Hancock in the first place (not sure how you ever come back from that), he'll now see his vacant smarmy face everywhere up till Christmas 😬

He’s a cynical arsèhole whose disgraceful corruption and gross incompetence caused or directly contributed to the deaths of thousands of people, some of them the most vulnerable in our society. Look at how his relationship with the racing industry informed his behaviour when Covid was building; he took the money instead of the medical and scientific and ethical advice.

He’s tried to close hospitals down, was embroiled in the scandal that was government parties during lockdown, has a dreadful voting record, cheated on his wife with an aide, lied constantly over a number of years. This is just the stuff we know about.

He deserves everything he gets. If he has a breakdown then what are you going to do, karma’s a bitch sometimes. F*ck him.

He's too much of a narcissist to even be near a mental breakdown. He's the archetypal tory politician who sees politics as a game without real life consequences(very much like the PM). He doesnt give a toss about anyone but himself and hasn't a thought for the thousands he had a hand in killing or their grieving relatives. I find it really offensive seeing his bumbling jovial face on tv, knowing what his incompetence has done. Unfortunately, i think the show will work for him and some people will be taken in by his nerdy persona. For me the only trial he should be facing should be in a court of law for criminal negligence.

I agree with this and the other posts on this thread, but I'm not sure he registers what it is he's actually done. I don't think he reckons he's done anything wrong.

If the other campmates can't stand him, or the immoral situation ITV have put them in, they should walk and let ITV explain the mess.

He does come across as completely oblivious. Surely he can’t be??

Watched it last night. It felt really uncomfortable for me.

In my opinion Hancock is responsible for thousands of deaths when he decided to send untested patients from hospitals back to care homes, he's responsible for billions of £ wasted during the pandemic and also responsible, along with Johnson, for a dreadful English response to the pandemic. As such I was kind of hoping that he would get it with both barrels in there...

BUT

He looks so dim and gullible, like a scrawny Mr Bean, and clearly doesn't realise what people actually think of him. None of his camp mates seem happy he's there or even like him. I think personally it will be a horrible experience for him mentally and I feel uncomfortable that ITV are showing all of this on TV. If I was isolated in a similar environment like that I would have a breakdown for sure.

Now that might be what he deserves - he might just deserve to have a breakdown, be made to do every challenge, be berated by his camp mates - but it just doesn't sit right with me sending him for his punishment on national TV. I think jail would be more appropriate.

Please can someone tell me I am wrong for feeling uneasy that he may well get destroyed in there!!
Great post, humility isn't always evident in here and as much as I can't stand the guy his selection for the show leaves me very uncomfortable too.

I agree that jail would be a more appropriate punishment for his crimes, which seem to equate to professional man slaughter. However I don’t think that will ever happen, I have no faith in the current system to actual have a fair and legal assessment of the workings of this current government. So to that end maybe this is the only way he can be punished? He thinks he’s done nothing wrong, he thinks he’s got away with it all. Maybe breaking him down and making him realise what has happened is the only way

That’s my thinking. He can stand in parliament or in front of an interviewer and pretty much get away with not answering the question, giving it the ‘What I’m really focused on is….’

He’s now thousands of miles from home with normal people (yes they’re celebrities but they’ve got families and friends who were affected by his decisions), hopefully they’ll take him out of his comfort zone and ask the real questions, or give him an idea of what normal members of the public actually think, and not give him an easy get out.

He should be in the tower of London with his head on a spike
A proven liar
Told us to follow the rules whilst he was shagging in the HOC
Took decisions knowing they would likely kill people..... and they did.

He's also very good at crying when he doesn't mean to so manipulation comes easy.

Now taking up to £500k for going on this stupid show and will be made for life.

So, If he has a breakdown I won't feel sorry for him because I won't believe it.

Best thing to do is vote him out straight away but - they are a funny lot the Brits. They will give him the oxygen he so badly wants.

ITV aren't interested in the morality of Hancock's appearance in the program, his mental state, the difficult position they put other camp mates in, they're only interested in revenue steams, viewing figures and keeping a show that's on the wane in the public conscience.

It's not a show I watch so can't comment on how the edit is being made to look Hancock look but there's nothing real about any of the current 'reality' shows, they will all be acting, they will all be playing a role, every person's behaviour changes when they know there is a camera on them that includes Hancock, who will have had hours and hours of media training in his role as a Cabinet Minister.

It's a crass, immoral choice to allow a man responsible for the deaths of thousands to be given a platform to raise awareness of dyslexia, like choosing Fred West to give him a stage to promote building site safety or Peter Sutcliffe to be the voice of HGV safety, their actions far outweigh any good personality traits these people may have has individuals.

I'm aware of my hyperbole but sometimes extreme examples are needed to contextualise issues, Hancock fully briefed and fully aware of the the consequences made the decision to return elderly patients with Covid back to care homes knowing that by doing so they would infect those least equipped to recover from it and in to a position where qualified professional health care and facilities would not be available to them.

We now have the situation where a man whose policies killed thousands of people is allowed to be on mainstream television, not to apologise or be held responsible for his actions, but to be humiliated into eating marsupial minge as entertainment.

It's wrong that he was asked and wrong that he accepted.

ITV knew exactly what they were doing when they signed him up for the show. The producer's will be hoping the other campmates end up giving him a rough time and make it an awkward atmosphere. Remember when Lady C was in the jungle, and ended up arguing with near enough every campmate - it's great television for some people.

At the same time, as much as I dislike Hancock, I found it a bit hypocritical of Boy George to take the moral high ground and speak about wanting to leave the show because of him. Isn't this the same guy who kidnapped a Male prostitute and beat him with a metal chain?
