After the first 3 games, I think we’re going to have to have a little…
It’s probably just what you have said. Sounds like we have a few wannabe chelsea fans whereby if it aint working now just go and buy another player. Forget about identity and building something, just go out and buy it. Today there were more green shoots from a forward line where 75% of them had played a handful of games between them at this level.
Ironically the club is now paying for having that short term focus pretty much since relegation with no real long term strategy and very little squad progression year on year, until eventually the money ran out because we made such a mess of it. Agree with that. I think we are going to develop the talent the recruitment guys believe in rather than loaning in big club’s development players this season. Are they good enough for this level ... time will tell. Archer and Ramsey strengthened the team last season in January and gave us the boost that we needed
Archer and Ramsey lifted us from 4th to er... 4th.Agree with that. I think we are going to develop the talent the recruitment guys believe in rather than loaning in big club’s development players this season.
Rebuilding a squad is a gamble at any time and with such a large influx of players needed to give the squad some longevity it was always going to be fraught with risk. I agree that we have wasted a hell of a lot of resources since relegation but behind the scenes since scott came in we have had Warnock, who wanted proven experience, Wilder who wanted the likes of Dwight Gale and apparently full say on transfers and now Carrick. This is our chance to build not only a first team squad but options in the under 21s with Nkrumah and Agyemang. I think it will pay off big style over the coming seasons. If we make the playoffs again this season it will have been a success in my eyes. If we dont I dont think there is any need to have a hissy fit as we will be stronger again next season.Ironically the club is now paying for having that short term focus pretty much since relegation with no real long term strategy and very little squad progression year on year, until eventually the money ran out because we made such a mess of it. Yeah, we are way off top 6 at the minute but I do see us getting better as a team over the course of the season. Not sure where that will take us though.I agree to an extent, but you cannot bring in substandard replacements and hope that it’s just going to click. Again today, the plan B was to chuck Crooks on up top and just hope for the best. Nothing I have seen in these three games suggests that we are going to be anywhere near the top 6.
The more I look at the current squad, unless we bring in 2-3 top class players (perms or loans) then certainly we’re weaker than last season. I can’t see us replacing Chuba’s goals so it’s inevitable.I agree to an extent, but you cannot bring in substandard replacements and hope that it’s just going to click.
