In theory, a Djed Spence Scenario

This is all just a theoretical scenario

July 31st. Spurs have walked away from the situation as Gibbo refuses to be bullied over a fee. Many of those credited with an interest have now signed RWB options as they were certain Spence was off to Spurs.
Do you include him in the squad to play West Brom and the future fixtures and tell him to get on with it, battling with Jones?
Do you keep him in reserve? Awaiting any future interest?

Transfer Deadline has passed, Nothing happened with Spence and he's stayed put.
Do you then reintegrate him back into the team? Or do you keep him in reserve still as it's quite clear the boy wants out?

These are both scenarios I didn't envisage in May but the longer it goes on the more it could move away from being theory and into reality

Would you be okay with him playing for us again after all that went on? Or would you want him to stick in the reserves?

Genuinely intrigued

Other clubs may be waiting for Spuds to pull out of the "deal".
If Spence wants out enough - he can shout at his agent to get a move on and find him a new club.
Thats probably being done as we speak.
Spuds are taking the pzz.
They might regret it.(y)

I think you need to ask the question can Jones play further forward on the right ?
We know he can play on the left and maybe Jones ends up playing more on the left to maintain Spences value .
I think there’s enough game time for everyone buy Giles could be the player that ends up playing less overall . We don’t own him and need to protect our assetts more but everyone should still get good game time

If he doesn’t get sold or go out on loan.. then the only option would be to have him in the squad.

There will be a deadline for Spurs and Djed will no doubt have a plan B, plan C etc

I think we'd have to play him to try and keep his value up until January.

It's just a question of how we'd fit him in, I genuinely think Jones is better when he's on form and I wouldn't want to drop him to play somebody who doesn't want to be here.

Sticking any player in the reserves is not an option. When has that ever ended well at any club?

I'm with Indeedio on this one.

Why is that?
Did you not watch Isaiah Jones for the first 3/4 of the season?
Jones is better going forward and better defensively. He certainly deserves to start the season at RWB.

Spot on, Spence is flashier but Jones has more end product. Yes Jones struggled with niggly injuries and fatigue towards the end of the season but for most of the season he was better than Spence.

The forest lads at work loved Spence and wanted him to stay but don’t / didn’t want the club to pay 15mill for him as his decision making and end product are still suspect.

Spence won't entertain returning to Boro so we have one option if he's not sold this summer and that's to put him out on loan again with a view to someone buying him in January. The current impass is highly predictable given Levy's reputation of wanting something for next to nothing and Gibson stance as football's Mr principalled. Unfortunately the longer this goes on our bargaining power reduces. I would be disappointed if the club aren't releasing transfer funds until the Spence cheque is cleared. I get the impression wilder is a bit pìssed off already with recruitment promises going pear shaped just like previous managers

Yet they’ve spent £17m much on a Liverpool reserve

As said above it depends on what CW wants to do, but if he comes back you can guarantee it will be a bad move he will come back with a bad attitude, his performances will be sub Forest level which will affect his price and interest from other clubs. Get him out on loan again to a top flight club and hope he puts the performances in, if he can do it at the top level and it is shown he can then we can sell him for just as much in January.
Spurs have ****ed us over really by agreeing a deal with Spence it means other clubs haven't bid which could have been their intention.

Spurs have the price, pay it or do one... Spence, if he's still here after we kick off our season - loan out to a PL club for 6 months ( not Spurs ) then in Jan, when prices are premium sell to, 8th placed, Spurs for £30m..

He won’t be loaned not a chance at all, that would be the equivalent of waving a white flag and saying we will take any offer for him in Jan or next summer. He will be integrated into the squad at the start of the season if he’s not sold, the club will make it look like we are happy for him to stay so as to maximise revenue potential before the window closes and or for selling him in January.
