Incident at Redcar Central station

Just seen a pic on BBC website, red lights look to be flashing but barrier is open. Might be more to it than car driver error 🤷‍♂️

Blimey. If it had been a potash train barrelling down from Boulby way it could have been so much worse.

If the red lights were flashing and the driver went through hoping to beat the barriers , irrespective if there was a fault with them coming down the car driver might still find himself in trouble.

Just read the Gazette article, if the car was a couple of tenths a second further advanced it could have been a lot more serious if the train had hit it full on. As said above the lights didn't seem to have been flashing at that point as well.
I imagine traffic chaos in Redcar for a couple of weeks now while they investigate this crossing and probably Redcar Lane as well.

I was on the train, we stopped just before Redcar on red lights, then set off again, train was going very slow as it pulled into Redcar when there was a loud bang, I thought we had jumped the tracks on the crossing.

The barriers hadn't shut nor were the lights on. It looks like either a signal failure or a mistake believing the train had gone through, there was a train 7 mins ahead which I had just missed.

No one hurt.

Thankfully as above it wasn't a freight train or a pedestrian that was hit.
