Bazball doesn’t seem to be suiting him.Watching Root bat is really painful these days. I think it’s only a matter of time before he departs.

Great cricket but the stadium looks very empty, about 20% of 25,000 full at best. Not sure the Indian public have been weaned off IPL yet.My main hope for this series wasn't so much that England would win, though obviously that would be fantastic, but that we would play bazball and it would be a ding dong series. Test cricket is the pinnacle but it is struggling for attendance worldwide, unlike ODI or T20. Pakistan fans loved the England series and their team responded to our approach. Many Australian fans have been advocating they take a leaf out of our book. We need Indian fans to do the same and demand exciting test cricket rather than safe, dull, home wins.
So far, so good. Let's hope it is 3-2 either way, but we continue with some special performances and, like today, leave India in shock and bereft of ideas at times.
Not sure as no mention about replacement so farThat’s a big blow for India. Are we letting them bring in a like for like replacement?
BBC says they can use a substitute fielder but thats it - no bowling/batting replacement. I think that can only be done in very limited circumstances. That’s a big blow for India. Are we letting them bring in a like for like replacement?
You can have a substitute in the event of a concussion injury that occurs during play.BBC says they can use a substitute fielder but thats it - no bowling/batting replacement. I think that can only be done in very limited circumstances.

Also how Matt Parkinson didn’t quite break on the scene as Jack Leach’s concussion replacement* in the last ashes but one making his England test career the shortest one ever, as it doesn’t even quite run to one whole match. You can have a substitute in the event of a concussion injury that occurs during play.
That’s how Labuschagne broke onto the scene in 2019. Replaced Smith after Jofra done some damage. He done pretty well for The Aussies in the series after that.
Amazing knock from Duckett today. Hopefully we can make hay tomorrow with a weakened India attack and still a pretty flat deck.
Hopefully Root can get some runs and back into form too. Way too early to be writing off Root. He’s going through a lean patch, but it’s not the first time. He generally finds a way and a method to bounce back. Hopefully tomorrow is the day!
I think if they ask England, we'd say yes bring in a replacement.. it's the right thing to do
