Injured by moving

Does anyone else on here regularly injure themselves simply by moving?

A few weeks ago i injured my neck simply by getting into my car, last week I almost dislocated my shoulder simply by by trying to get the duvet out from underneath myself, the sharp pain was excruciating, and this morning I’ve just knackered my back (gone into spasm I think) simply by getting out of bed and now I’m struggling to move about.

Is it just me? Am I just getting old? (51). Wtf is happening to me?

I'm at the age where I wake up on a morning and find something is hurting. For no reason. I've started a sweep .. Monday morning .. is it gonna be a leg, shoulder, neck or back .. get it right and win a prize!

The Department of Trade and Industry has worked out that every year 6,000 people have so much trouble putting their trousers on that they have an accident that lands them in casualty.
I suspect that’s a hugely understated figure. I’m quite sure that if I was to have an accident in my trousers I’m certainly not reporting it to the DTI any time soon!

Do you know statistically what is the most dangerous every day task we all do is.
Moving (at least in my case!)

I woke up one day last August and my little finger and ring finger had decided to develop trigger finger overnight for no good reason. It’s only just about back to normal movement now but they still feel uncomfortable. It’s crazy, I’m just a physical wreck.

My back is killing me now and my legs hurt, all from just swinging my legs off the bed to sit up.

Yep. I'm 49 and it's horrible. On the train back from Leicester last week I moved in my seat and bang. My son heard it go. Was worried it was going to be like the time I had to get the paramedics out. Our bodies are not not nice to us.

You're not the only one mate. I'm a similar age to you and my back is almost permanently screwed these days. I managed to knacker my thumb in bed a couple of months ago. I have no idea how you can injure your thumb in your sleep but I did it. Crazy stuff.

I think you have answered your own question

Yes, easily done, I'm a few years older than you.
Turning over in bed can lead to weeks of shoulder pain.
The worse thing I can do is bend over and lift something at an awkward angle. Something goes in the lower back and the pain goes on for weeks.

I learnt about this in my mid-40s. Went to see my gp about a bad back. His response was well you've walked in here, you're just getting old.

Have you thought about giving Gestede a ring, he suffered from something similar. ;)

How did you get the beans above the frank?

Sometimes I injure myself yawning. I'll do a big yawn and mt chest knacks for the next couple of minutes.

It's all down to a lack of flexibility I reckon.
I'm knocking on 60 and I'd say I'm still pretty fit, but flexibility is an issue.
My biggest bugbear is bruising in places where I have no recollection of any sort of impact, particularly places like your shin or elbow which you'd know you'd bumped.
