Is anybody doing The Great North Run?

I ran today too to raise money for a charity for my Daughters condition.
It’s the 4th I’ve done it and it was without doubt the worst, got stuck in South Shields for about 5 hours due to the rain. Metro stopped running because it was flooded.
I say it every year but it’s definitely the last time i do it, I’m just sticking to smaller events from now.

No agree about the weather, it’s the crowds on the actual run I find stop me getting any momentum, it’s very stop and start ducking past people.

3rd one I've done. The route needs to change. South Shields can't handle 60000 finishers plus thousands of spectators.

Some vendors being cash only is a joke. Luckily I remembered this from last year and stashed some cash in my running vest. The vendors that did accept card were having a game trying to get it to work.

A half marathon loop that ends back in Newcastle is what we need. More reliable travel links and a lot more space for everyone to disperse into after the event.

Yeah my daughter lives in South Shields and it took her 5 hours to get home from Redcar.
