Is there a link between MFC and the Chinese film Shaolin Soccer?

Mrs Marwood put this on the other night which is a really crappy and cheesy Chinese football comedy and someway through the coach is seen wearing a Middlesbrough football top.

It's definitely a Boro badge, it gets brought up every now and then when somebody watches the film.

Not sure what the origin of it is though, they probably just thought the badge looked cool.

We were also a fairly prominent club in one of the biggest leagues in the world, might have just been an Easter egg.
I can't remember the film well enough now to think if there were other badges featured.
 
It's definitely a Boro badge. There are better photos where you can make out the text.

It's probably just part of a job lot that they happened to use for filming.
 
Definitely a Boro badge, although nowhere in our history can I find the round '86 badge with a red lion inside a navy blue or black border
 
If the chinese like something they just copy it without any reference of the original source. Its why their economy exploded.

Shaolin Soccer is a great film!

I have watched it several times and I find it hilarious, bonkers and innocently wonderful!

It has echoes of early Jackie Chan comedies; before Hollywood.

Golden Leg Fung is a tremendous character, a pathetic loser, who was a brilliant footballer in his youth but made bad choices.

Fung chances upon a zealous young man, who wants to teach the world kung-fu. And football is the thing that brings them together, giving one the opportunity to spread the word of Kung-fu; the other a shot at footballing redemption!

Throw in some song and dance, a charmingly odd love story, and a few freshly made Chinese buns - and Fung’s your uncle!
