Isaiah Jones — stick or flog?

Jones obviously still has room for improvement, but there does seem to be a thing with unreasonable expectations for wingers from some fans.
fans expect wingers to roast their fullback every time they square up to them…yes that’s unreasonable.

Jones is a valuable squad player, he does frustrate me with his decision making and execution sometimes. He’s replaceable if he chooses to leave but we need pace if we replace him. Ita a headache gone if we keep him.

I’m not sure he’s consistent enough to be a regular in a top 2 or 3 team, if he’s confident and fit maybe, 🤔

We should be doing our best to keep him - he’s a very good player at this level, he has genuine pace, he can defend, he can attack very effectively, and he is adaptable position wise. It’s no surprise results have picked up since he came back into the side.

There's the bigger picture: how many players do you want to see move on, or be injured at the same time?

Jones is an important first team player and should be next season as well if we’re looking for a top two spot. He consistently provides assists and goals despite be moved about from right wing to right wing back that’s not to mention the interruption to his career due to the mental problems. If we want to challenge for automatic promotion we need a flying Izzy Jones.

100% we should offer him a new deal.

He can be frustrating to watch but he offers us something different. We badly missed him for his pace when he was out injured.

If you think back to the Plymouth game we were struggling to get out of our own half at times. Jones is somebody who will look to play a one-two with a teammate and then run with the ball. Without that we can be so one dimensional.

I can also see Carrick being more willing to switch to wing-backs at times next season, as we have been very effective setting up that way at times this season. We know how good Jones is playing RWB.

Must keep AND start. With Jones starting we average 1.67 ppg. Without him we average 1.1 ppg!!

* That was before Swansea, only gone up since then!
He has been so important to us this season. Almost all our progressive play goes through him even when he isn't playing well.

Other teams are scared of him and it creates space elsewhere.

He also makes runs in behind.

Last year he was less important because McGree, Giles and Akpom were often the players that progressed our play forwards. And allowed Forss to focus on arriving late.

Without doubt try and get him signed on a new contract. Good Championship winger. Even if you think Forss should play in front of him, which I do, he's still a very useful player in the squad.

Jones is the one player opposition teams hate playing against. When he plays opposition teams defend ten or fifteen yards deeper. Its true his final ball is sometimes dodgy but he is a big threat. See the Chelsea games for his effect.

Latte Lath (who i also rate) and whoever is our no 10 need to learn to play with him like Crooks did and we will be laughing. You could see yesterday Aziz is starting to get it. It takes time, theyve hardly had a game together with all the imjuries.

He’ll want a release clause which is probably fair enough? What would we accept? £15m? Worth extending and maybe just an extra year to what he has and have another looking summer 25?

Definitely keep Isaiah without question, but we need more pace in the squad.
Hopefully we can balance the left-hand side and find a striker to match Latte Lath.
Expect this summer will be busy.(y)

Whilst we all expect (and need) some decent improvements in the side, I cannot imagine many scenarios where the players we bring in would mean we can afford to even contemplated letting Jones go at all.

End product has been poor recently and giving the ball away consistently. The pass to Ayling on the counter attack at the end of the game was a poor one as he had to stop and check back slightly to get the ball when it should have been infront of him.

However he is always a threat and dangerous even if the final bit is not there. I'd keep him
