Yea Russel T Davies. Also recently directed years and years on BBC which was great.Brilliant series with a fantastic 80's soundtrack. Funny and moving in equal measure - think its the same writer as Queer as Folk?
Would love for a similar style drama set around nuclear war threat in the UK. Russell T Davies is one of the best in his business, I’m sure he could muster something up.Watching them old skool, each Friday at 9:00pm. Watched the second one last night. Even though I was a teenager in 1983, I had forgotten all the ignorance and myths that existed at the time. Really well produced piece as always by Russell T.
Lots of 80s themes and events ripe for another dramatic revisit I think; nuclear war threat, miners strike and acid house etc...

It’s a sin
Anybody watched it yet ? Series about growing up gay in the 80s I believe, sounds like a good watch. Anyone seen it?fmttmboro.com
Agreed. Intolerance of difference has had a mini revival in recent years.Lets not kid ourselves that everything in the garden is rosy. Homophobia, violence and prejudice are alive and well and living subcutaneously in British culture.
If it’s any consolation I was a complete wreck after finishing it last weekendHalf way through the final episode, I feel like a blubbering wreck watching on my own.
Tried to get the wife to watch it but she wasn’t bothered, think it’s worth watching a second time just to convince someone else to watch. If it’s any consolation I was a complete wreck after finishing it last weekend
I binged it last weekend on demand. I’ll probably watch it again in a few weeks. Its affected me deeply as I grew up gay in the 80s and (still) struggle with homophobia. Thankfully I was too young to be out shagging a different bloke every weekend. If I’dbeen 10-15 years older it might have been me...Tried to get the wife to watch it but she wasn’t bothered, think it’s worth watching a second time just to convince someone else to watch.
Having grown up in the 90s I’ve never really learnt or been aware of what actually happened, think I’ll take some time to read up on it and have a deep dive on YouTube. Saw a tweet earlier that summed it up perfectly, not to just stop at the end of episode 5.
