Jamie Carragher is making Sky’s football coverage unwatchable

I’m talking about his co-commentary rather than the punditry. I think he’s good on Monday Night Football doing analysis but his co-commentary is appalling IMO. They’re two separate and entirely different jobs. Just because you’re a good pundit doesn’t make you a good co-commentator.

Pundits rarely get under my skin like they seem to with others.

Even Steve McManaman doesn’t bother me. They’re just people giving their opinion, they’re all way more qualified to give it than me so I just let them get on with it.
Don’t have them commentating on Liverpool games

Yeah fair enough. I take most of what they say with a pinch of salt anyway personally. I appreciate that their bias can be irritating but for whatever reason I just take it at face value and don’t overthink it. In truth with young kids running around I barely get to actually listen to what’s being said.

Think they are both great, far better to have ex pros on who actually know and are passionate about the game
I'd rather have experienced coaches or managers - talk some real tactics about the game, before the event - rather than listen to some barely literate ex-monied club former player try & explain what happens next on a replay: genius.

Neville is OK, Carragher & many others I'd not miss at all.

This might be a tangent but I cannot abide the commentator Sky uses for Championship games, trying to make every bit of action an epoch-defining moment. Antagonising bellend

Andy Hinchcliffe is my most unfavourite football pundit. He was on the earlier game yesterday and I had to switch off. When his co commentator presses his button, AH talks and talks and talks , usually about the incident you have just seen. He also thinks he is funny. Apart from not watching or having the sound off , is there a way to gag these liabilities and still watch a game ?
I suspect that AH is the bloke Piccadilly is referring to.

There is only Neville who makes any sense and actually attempts to analyse the game and provide insight. If I want "banter" I could walk into any macro pub in the country but there's a reason I literally never, ever do that.

Its dumbed down to such a level now that it barely makes any sense anymore. Just speaking in cliches.

Good point about ex-managers as well. In many cases it's so obvious they are the "brains" behind the operation (European ones much more so).

Then again, as Gove said, we're through with experts right? Far better to listen to inaudible shrieking for 45 minutes and vague attempts at "humour"
