Confirmed fractured skull. That’s horrendous news.
Hopefully he makes a full And speedy recovery.

That's an horrific injury for a footballer. Especially one so good in the air and heading very much part of his game.

It's definitely going to be a longterm injury and also mentally in terms of going in for headers. It's not really like he could wear a head guard unless they could design one.

A real top quality forward. Hopefully he can come back soon. All that matters for now is getting fit and well👍

Such a sad incident.

I watched it live and heard the crunch as it happened. Horrific sound.

It's going take a long long time to recover from this, physically and mentally.

Hopefully he gets back as soon as possible. He's a cracking player.

As for Luiz, I have no idea how they thought it was deemed 'safe' for him to continue.

Surely the protocols would've forced Luiz to be subbed? I think Arsenal/officials may end up in some bother with the decision to let Luiz continue.

It shows the vulnerability of those in sport whose head is part of the game.
It also highlights the point that all head injuries present potentially a serious risk.
Maybe the rules should be changed so that anyone who experiences a head injury will be immediately subbed?

Definitely need to look into a concussion sub. It means you could replace a player for 5-10 mins for the Doc to have a look without pressure from the manager as they only have 10 men.

I think Warnock said as much last week.

It was dreadful. The noise went right through me, probably made worse by lack of crowd, but even still you knew straight away it was bad. Hope he can make a full recovery and continue to play, but even if he does it will be with a skull cap. Hope he's not as unlucky as Ryan Mason!

This is why it's shameful players go down holding there faces for nothing. People get so blade

Wish him a full recovery, a great centre forward. As above, hopefully he doesn’t have to retire like Mason did that would be a great shame. Health is more important though.

That's horrendous. Really good player and seems a good pro. Hopefully makes a full recovery.

Ridiculous decision to allow Luiz to play on till half time. Shows football has a lot to learn still with regards to head injuries.

The game was stopped for ten minutes, and they still felt it was safe for Luis to continue. They should just have a five minute break when there's a head injury.

Agree, but you know fine well what would happen....it would be the perfect excuse for a team/manager to throw on an extra striker or defender and use it to manipulate the game depending on the current score etc.

I've seen it handled a lot better than that.

First thing to say is that no blame attaches to Luiz in this situation. If we are suggesting that the player has concussion, the decision needs to be taken out of his hands.

I can recall Mitrovic getting a head injury a few years back and really protesting to the doctor that he could play on. The doctor was even more adamant that he had to come off, which is how it should be handled. The incident sticks in my memory because the doc was a guy I've worked with.

A concussed player is in no position to decide whether they're ok to play on.

yeah probably but surely they could put it in the rule that positionally it has to be a like for like sub which has to be declared before the start of each game to stop that, I’d also put a minimum 3 game ban in place for anyone holding their face / head when it clearly hasn’t been touched to stop the play acting
