Anyone watched the Saville documentary on Netflix ?

Uncomfortable viewing but compelling I thought. Awful to see how he operated and how the West Yorkshire plod turned a blind eye.

“My Case is
Coming
Up
Next
Thursday”

He was definitely trying to tell us something.

Yes I watched it - seems he was operating in Scarborough and I heard saltburn also. Uncomfortable viewing - how he was advisor to the royals says a lot.

It’s like he was proud of what he was doing and wanted to show off about it! All the hints he was dropping.

There is NO WAY Thatcher and the Royals didn’t know what he was all about. No way on earth. MI5, MI6 etc would have known his every movement and the inside of a fart.

ELEVEN CHRISTMASES with Thatcher (our prime minister) at Checkers, close buddy buddy pals with Prince Charles “the people of this country will never know what you have done for this country” - he was a fixer, a gangster. Well in with the ruling Elite and he was there for a reason. Thatcher was advised not to have him knighted based on the information that was known about him.

It all gets very tin foil hat sort of stuff when you mention that our ruling class were very much involved in the same sort of activities and behaviour as Sir Jimmy Saville.

Good programme. It's scary to think how it was all covered up by all levels of society - top to bottom.

Somebody knew the score....

I can only think it must have been an open secret in showbiz circles

The footage of selina Scott squirming on breakfast TV was telling.

I guess abusers are clever enough to hide it and he hid it with his charity work.

I've watched some of it and it's clear in the archive footage of him that he was a deprived b****d. It led me to think he got away with it because of either;

He was so deceiving people didn't realize, or members of the establishment in both government and television were just as bad, or he greased the hands of many that they couldn't afford to go against him.

It's a disgrace on the country in all those situations.

The scary thing was that when the story broke and his victims were coming forward, the good old BBC were still trying to sweep it under the carpet.

His crimes were obviously known about in that organisation and they did nothing!

Thatcher gave senior cabinet positions to people who she knew were practicing paedophiles. She even discussed it with one, telling him he could have promotion "but you'll have to clean up your act".

In the days before Social Media it was all just rumour and hearsay. As soon as Social Media became a thing he was outed.
And obviously the Friday Morning Club were all at it as well.

Sickening really but what I would expect from West Yorkshire plod in that era

There was something very odd about Roger Ordish’s demeanour.

Either he was lying that he knew nothing or he was completely broken that it happened in front of his eyes and Saville was clever enough to have hid it from him. I couldn’t work him out.

I watched it a few days ago and it sent me off to bed in a rather bleak mood.

A couple of years before Savile died, my father in law told us some rumours he'd heard from working as hospital auxiliary staff. He'd met people at conferences, etc. from Leeds hospitals who didn't ever want to take part in the handshaking and backslapping with him because of what they suspected. That was the first I heard of it and then it all came out soon after.

There are still plenty out there in online comment sections who will enable this. Much older men with teenage girls get the "well she's over 16" pass. Jack Whitehall's dad gets himself on telly with his son. Few people ever mention the age gap between him and his wife... And how they met, working at the BBC in the 70s. 🤨

Hardly as it was panaroma that broke the true horror of his crimes.
No. Have you seen the documentary?

They were going to break the story in the run up to Christmas after his death in October. But the bbc scheduled a tribute programme at Christmas so they told newsnught not to break the story. The journo then took the story to itv a few months later who broadcast it and broke the story.

No I haven’t seen it yet.

I remember at the time that whilst they were working on his tribute show with shane Ritchie down the corridor panorama we’re building their show to bury him.

Btw that shane Ritchie show was incredible wasn’t it. I remember watching it and thinking ooh I don’t think this will ever be repeated.

I remember an interview with Richard Herring where he mentioned consistent rumours of Saville being a necrophiliac when he and Stewart Lee were at the BBC, apparently they considered using it in a sketch but felt it was too far fetched at the time!

I think the sad reality is that it wasn’t just the bbc as itv were more than happy to use him as well as tv esp at that level is very close knit.

It’s truly shocking that we he was able to get away with it as what ever docs or books are written now the sad reality is that he DID get away with it and spent zero time in prison as a result.

Remember when he layed in state in Leeds and people queued to see him.
