Consistently as bad as Lumley? You've obviously forgotten Betinelli!!!
Betinelli is way worse than Lumley.Consistently as bad as Lumley?
Just stop it Jonny you are making yourself look daft.Betinelli is way worse than Lumley.
All keepers make mistakes, more so at this level and Lumleys overall game is OK, if it wasn't for the fact that he makes far too many elementary mistakes. That's not a lack of ability, it's concentration.
Reading the QPR fans views on him it seems that's why he didn't start games there.
There's a tendency with Boro fans to overreact and be over-critical with keepers and Lumley is the same.
I see some people blaming him for the back 3 not having a good game yesterday - which is nonsense.
And he's been blamed more than Dijksteel for the 3rd goal, which only came about because the of the formers mistake.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's the standard we need to be at, just that he's not as wholly bad as many people claim.
By having a different opinion to you?Just stop it Jonny you are making yourself look daft.
I don’t remember anyone turning on Steele despite his shortcomings (best steel in our goal) the mackems think he is one of the worst keepers they’ve ever had.Wasnt Steele a target for the boo boys towards the end?
Or was his sending off at Leeds then the loan signing of Given the end of his time at Boro?
Is his overall game ok though? Because of what I have seen of him he is terrible at claiming anything that comes into his box, shot stopping is average at best, distribution poor. This is reflected in his lack of appearances throughout his career, its not like he is just having a bad season.Betinelli is way worse than Lumley.

Bettinelli was worseI can not remember seeing a keeper as poor as Lumley turn out regularly for our first team in decades of following the Boro.
How the hell has this happened.?
