Joe Root

Another major mistake by Root as captain.
Miscalculating the wicket on home soil after all the advice he will have received. Put India into bat they look like making 500 plus.
Give it up Joe concentrate on your batting and trying to get into 1 day Cricket. Imo

Strange that as Kohli said he would have bowled as well had he won the toss.
Also how do you know Stokes would be a good Test captain having never captained in the long form of the game or are you just guessing.

How do you know what advice he was given? I would of bowled this morning given the choice. Just turns out it didn't swing as much as expected, still 4 days of cricket left yet.

He has stepped in before hasn’t he?

The consensus on TMS was it was a good toss to lose. As Kohli said he would have bowled too. England had no luck at all, the ball was beating the bat quite a few times. India batted well and showed the value of having proper "Openers" prepared to tough it out not try to win a Test Match in the first session of day one.

He's doing a decent job is Joe.

On paper it was a no brainer to put them in. They batted very well against a average attack

England's batting line up is very fragile. Root possibly had that in mind and put his trust in the bowlers in the hope of skittling 3 or 4 out before lunch. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The frailty of the batsmen is the major concern, followed by an ageing/injury prone pace attack and lack of a class spin bowler.
