Joe Root

That's him gone . I've been saying it for 3 years he's not an England Captain.
Great batsman, poor captain. Happens too often that people are made captain because they are guaranteed a place in the team. Especially in cricket this doesn't work. Eoin Morgan at his best deserves his place in the 1 day sides, at his worst he doesn't, but as captain he's worth his weight in gold.

I've advocated he should stay as captain up until now.

There was a spell yesterday where Stokes and Mahmood were altering the field positions and deciding what to do in Mahmood's run up. Root was at slip with his hands in his pockets staring into space. It's become to much for him and he and the team would be better off if he stood down.

Umm, Root is our best player by a ridiculous margin, captain or not.

His place in the team was and is never in doubt, he was the only captain choice because he'll be guaranteed to be first pick on the team sheet, not to make him first choice.

But his captaincy is too passive and made poor choices with bowlers.

Morgan is not a red ball player.

Agree. It's time his batting was his main focus.
