Johnson partying while Britain burns

It's not just Johnson skipping Cobra meetings to have a party though is it?

It's Patel refusing to go up in front of the Home Affairs Select Committee as scheduled because her department is in chaos.

It's the Online Safety Bill not being debated because the Tory Party is so distracted they've run out of Parliamentary time.

The sooner these Tory ******* are out of power the better.

I think you could be waiting a long time, when Ritchie gets in he doesn't have to do much to win the next election with the massive majority they hold...

the guy fooled a good proportion of the British public , he appeared charasmistic, passionate and a jolly good egg .... actually he was a chancer, took his electorate as fools and I cant believe I was took in .....

I can't stand the bloke, but there's no denying Johnson has charisma. If you're not really bothered about politics, only pay it passing interest, then I can easily see how people were taken in by him. I only really started taking an interest in politics when I started working on ministerial briefing in the Department for Health. Think I probably thought Johnson was harmless and entertaining before then.

The real test is what you do when you do realise what he's like. When you have all the facts. Not an easy thing to hold your hands up and say "I got it wrong". There's been psychological studies on it, it's human nature. Most of us are very resistant to it. So fair play to you.

I disagree completely. I don't think he has any charisma at all. There's nothing charismatic about a fat bloke with **** hair who can't string a sentence together without struggling. I'd say fukwit was a better description.

I'm not sure it is "charisma" more sort of the guff that the other conman Farage used to deal in, portraying himself as "the-sort-of-bloke-you'd-share-a-pint-with". The "Boris" thing.

That's not the name his friends call him, he's not your mate, he isn't going to be seen in your pub, he's not going to buy a round, he wants you to put a cross in a box on one day in five years, beyond that he couldn't give a fig if you live or die, what he does, he does for himself or his sponsors and hangers on. But worse than that unlike previous unpleasant PMs like Thatcher, he is utterly incompetent and probably a sociopath.

I hear you. To reiterate, I can't stand him.

But the "loveable, optimistic buffoon" persona is effective. Or at least has been for years.

Just because it doesn't work on you (and it doesn't on me) doesn't mean it doesn't work on others. There's a reason have I got news for you invited him on frequently. He was entertaining and likeable. They regret it now of course.

To state he is (or at least was, the mask has well truly slipped) charismatic isn't praise for him. But it's acknowledging why millions voted for him. Or voted for him for London mayor. It's shallow and completely without substance. But he wouldn't have had the success he's had politically without charisma. Let's face it, there's F all other reasons for it.
