I'm not sure it is "charisma" more sort of the guff that the other conman Farage used to deal in, portraying himself as "the-sort-of-bloke-you'd-share-a-pint-with". The "Boris" thing.
That's not the name his friends call him, he's not your mate, he isn't going to be seen in your pub, he's not going to buy a round, he wants you to put a cross in a box on one day in five years, beyond that he couldn't give a fig if you live or die, what he does, he does for himself or his sponsors and hangers on. But worse than that unlike previous unpleasant PMs like Thatcher, he is utterly incompetent and probably a sociopath.
Agree with pretty much all of that, but see my previous. He had (probably not anymore) a superficial charm that allowed him to get away with it.
Whether you call it charisma or whatever is semantics. The persona worked. It's depressing, but it's surely undeniable?
