Just been watching all of Mike Tyson’s knockouts on YouTube

Whilst Ali was the greatest of his time and had such flair and technique when it comes to raw power Tyson has never been matched. I recall watching his fights in the 1980s and they would rarely last more than a few rounds.

On at least one fight he lifted his opponent off the floor with one of his punches. His stare, all black attire with no socks made him look frightening, He would break his opponent by his look alone.

Today we have the other Tyson dragging the sport into the gutter alongside his father with their out of the ring behaviour. There was nothing like that in those days. Mike Tyson did it all in the ring.

Yes, boxing has become more of a circus now than a sport sadly

Why did you have to post that? :ROFLMAO:

I just HAD to watch it all. Again. I cant resist.

And to think that he is booked to fight that daft, fuc.king idiot. Even if Tyson was 90, he would snap his neck.

Tyson was savage, he had some fighters beat before they even got into the ring. He is old, has had issues with his back and he smokes a lot of dope but he still has a lot of power in that body and knows how to use it.

Jake Paul is not a boxer, the only time he has fought an exceptionally poor boxer in Hughie Fury he was well beaten. I think he has made a mistake here - all his previous 'conquests' were smaller than him and yes also older and not pure boxers. Calling out a man who is bigger than him and in his prime would have withered him with a look, then trying to belittle him on social media is not going to end well for him I fear. Tyson cannot afford for it to go on too long, and will be aiming to finish it quick, staying peek-a-boo and unloading those hooks under Jake Pauls jab and right hand sorties as Tyson bullies him around the ring. Once he connects cleanly I cannot see it going any further.

Just my 0.01

Are you seriously saying Mike Tyson didn’t do anything controversial outside of the ring? He did plenty and wasted his best years in prison because of it. He was a brutal knockout artist but struggled when he wasn’t able to physically dominate his opponents.

True but he was past his prime by then and taking a lot of substance hits
He wasn’t past his prime when Buster Douglas beat him. He was 23. Teddy Atlas has been quoted saying it was his one real weakness. That he would physically dominate almost anyone but he couldn’t handle it mentally when that didn’t happen.

Fair point, but there are a lot of hints he wasn't looking after himself anyway at that point - said it himself in one interview. Possibly an excuse but for me he didn't look the same sharp fighter he was. It's been debated before so I will just say I don't know for certain but for me that wasn't the same Mike Tyson in that fight. Anyway in that fight I agree he was not able to dominate and he was soundly beaten.

Though later he said he was beaten because Douglas fought a great fight that night. So on reflection it seems Mike was all out...Go figure

Question then, just out of interest TBH - do you think a 19YO Tyson would have beaten Buster Douglas at I think 27YO at that time?
Purely a talking point as we can never know

No he’d of stil lost, everytime he stepped up in class he lost. Tyson was the wilder of his day, great at sparking out guys ranked from 10 to 100 but schooled by the top boxers. He and his fan boys have as many excuses as Wilder as well.

He was a brutal slugger more than a refined boxer - i wonder what would have happened if he’d met Ali in his prime.

Tyson couldn’t handle Evander Holyfield not being intimidated by him, so had to bite a chunk of his ear.

Didn’t Tyson quit during their second fight too? No doubt Tyson was brutal but he met his match more than once.

Looking back, Tyson's rise looked unstoppable. From pro debut to capturing the world title was less than 21 months. In that time, he had 28 fights and won them all.
Yes, a lot of those fights were only 1 round, and you do wonder about the quality of the opponent that he was paired against, but simply figting that often seems incredible now. He must have begun preparing for the next fight immediately after knocking the previous guy out, or maybe just who he was.

For those who weren't 8-9 like me at the time, was the heavy weight division considered weak at the time? Tyson ultimately seem to be found out by the next generation of heavywieghts.

I wouldn’t say it was weak - a lot better than it is now that’s for sure
