Justice

Other than a full life tariff that’s got to be one of the longest prison sentences I’ve seen handed out.
He’ll be lucky to see it out !

Nothing less than he deserves but it brings into question most other murder sentences and asks the question if his sentence was handed down due to it being a high profile case?

Definitely - he probably earned himself ten extra years by refusing to attend the sentencing. Whilst I’m sure there’s guidelines - and a range - human emotion and the profile of the case feels like it was a factor in the sentencing.

If you are a hit man and put anyone who crosses your path in mortal danger then you must pay the price.

The courts in this country are a joke and make numbers up. Cash man has been done by the media coverage.
Huntley got 40 for a worse crime

Edit.
I still don’t think 42 is long enough. He should swing.

Sean Mercer got 22 years. Why the massive difference?
Good point, who knows. Maybe the era or the will of the people at the time. Hard to understand.
For me, the sentencing guidelines for those convicted of murder should be stricter and the minimum term should be 40 years at least.
There's other categories of taking someone else's life and maybe they can be taken into account by a judge but being convicted of murder should carry a minimum and very high tariff.

I stand corrected.

If Huntley was convicted now he would receive a whole life term - the act of Parliament was passed the day after he was sentenced
